A minha filha é mulher. Digo muitas vezes que isto de ser mãe de mulher tem que se lhe diga. É uma mulher complexa, cheia de nuances e, no entanto, tão clarividente, direta, assertiva, límpida. Uma muralha que esconde lava pura, um escudo que defende uma sensibilidade e um brilho especiais.

My daughter is a woman. I often say that being a woman's mother is really something. My daughter is an intricate woman, full of nuances” and, yet, so intuitive, direct, assertive, pure. A wall that hides pure lava, a shield that protects a special sensitivity and bright.

Altiva no bom sentido, sempre segura de si. Nada lhe escapa, porque ao caminhar não olha de cima, mas ao seu redor. Independente, já nasceu assim, já dentro de mim a sentia assim. Digo, por brincadeira, que ela se serviu de mim para estar pronta, e quando ficou, nasceu determinada a mostrar quem é. Assim de repente, como que a dizer “aqui estou eu” ou, mesmo, “o mundo é meu”. Brilhante, lúcida, auto-suficiente, independente, de-ter-mi-na-dí-ssi-ma.!

Proud in a good way, always self-assured. She misses nothing because, when she walks, she doesn’t look from above, but around her. Independent, she was born this way. She was inside me and I already felt her this way. I use to say, in a playful way, that she used me to be ready and, when she was, she showed immediately the kind of person she is. So suddenly, as if to say "here I am" or even, "the world is mine". Brilliant, aware, self-sufficient, independent, de-ter-mi-ned.

E amiga. Como quem “não quer a coisa”. Assim é para mim. A minha fortaleza que, de quando em vez, baixa a guarda, ou alarga-a. Aprendo tanto com ela! Responsável. Tão confiável, tão confiante. Astuta. A minha filha. Esta ligação quase telepática, que se sente à distância. A franqueza de amigas entre mãe e filha, sendo mãe e filha. O amor infinito e inesgotável, os laços indeléveis, nossos, fortes, indestrutíveis, que nos unem. Uma cumplicidade quase de gangue.

She’s a friend. Without showing it often. She’s a friend to me. My fortress that, from time to time, lowers the guard, or widens it. I learn so much from her! Accountable. So trusting, so confident. Bold. My daughter. This almost telepathic connection we have, felt at the distance. A friend’s frankness between mother and daughter, while being mother and daughter. The infinite and endless love, the indelible bonds, ours, strong, abiding, between us. Almost a gang-like complicity.

Mãe e filha. Filha e mãe. Mãe de mulher, filha de mulher. Nada, mas nada é mais emocionante que isto. Insuperável. Incomparável. Um amor forte, fundo, que até dói. Estou longe dela, como tenho estado nos últimos anos. Dói o coração, mas estou lá mesmo sem estar. Adoro-te minha filha!

Mother and daughter. Daughter and mother. Mother of a woman, daughter of a woman. Nothing, but nothing is more thrilling than this. Unbeatable. Unique. A strong, deep love that, sometimes even hurts. I’m not by her side, as I haven’t been for the last years. It breaks my heart, but I'm there despite the distance. I love you, my love!
