Valentines day is the day that love is in the air, and if you are a happily married man like myself, it takes meticulous planing to come up with a nice and fresh surprise every year to show the love of your life how much you care. One day while browsing aimlessly on Facebook I saw an add of The Patriot Teater (Teater=Theater) advertising that they will have a live singer, called Mathys Roets, on Valentine's day including a nice dinner. The Patriot Theater is not a real big Theater, it is rather a restaurant with a small make shift stage, but they do have dinner with guest artists there from time to time. I immediately booked a table for my lovely wife and I. Below you can see the setting which is quite simple, but intimate!! They only had 20 couples booked, thus we were all close to the stage.
At the door we were greeted by a chocolate fountain and marshmallows, with some bubbly to drink. Nice
We ordered a very nice bottle of Du Toitskloof, 2016 Merlot, below you can see the wine in the glass, what a beautiful ruby color!!
For starters we had a nice carpaccio, as you can see in the photo below.

Below you can see the main meal, which consisted of two different meats, mash potatoes and some veggies, which tasted great, really delicious!!
Below you can see my wife looking in love and lovely, enjoying the music.
We had some trifle for desert, which was also delicious.
Mathys Roets is a well known Afrikaans singer, who became paralyzed after a motorcycle accident. He did not become discouraged after the accident and kept on singing, below you can see us with Mathys after the show.
Below are two videos I took of songs Mathys performed on Valentine's day, I posted one Afrikaans song and one in English for you to enjoy, I think the quality is quite good for a phone recording.

What I love, I do not know today. I do not have any wish or not. It is astonishing that sometimes, when I wake up in the deep night, I hear the voice of the unreal, I see the mythical scene. Break the silence of the night and roar in my ears, There is no sea on the back.
If I do not have the moon in the sky and I see the full moon, I can recognize every star in the sky in the clouds. And on some other days, when a well-lit air is heard, first you can hear the name of a musical instrument, a beautiful melody, then whoever sings sweet melody more than the birds of the dawn
Do not think we're floating in the sea at night,
A melodious tune to flutter in the lake, so that
I can talk whispered with you ..........
