I think what makes an effective poem is something that most humans like to call an 'attraction'. An attraction is the reason why people like poetry, or at least, it is the main reason.
When a person is attracted by something, you can think of that thing as coming to life because of the things that make it happen to you, and it's not just something you just happen to like or have. It is something you have. The act of loving is a kind of attraction.
This kind of attraction doesn't just happen to humans. It happens to most animals, in an equally human way. In other words, it is something we don't have, and in turn, has no effect unless we have it, in some very specific way.
What are the most powerful feelings that we feel in love?
In love, we feel the most powerful emotions. Love gives us the greatest capacity for experiencing a wide array of emotions.
