You could not be more accurate. Withholding love and being bitter is not what you want when you are 89 years old in the nursing home. Unfortunately I see a lot of it in my profession. Some people never married, drove off family and never reconciled, etc etc etc. I know there are many variances but some of it is pure stubbornness on the behalf of the person and I can see the regret in their eyes whether or not it is ever verbalize.
