There’s so much information and ideas circulating right now about how to generate revenue for apps on Steem.

Steem apps must learn to generate revenue.

Without an external source of revenue that is not dependent on the rewards pool, apps will struggle to develop and keep up with their costs.

So much can be seen with Steemit.com.

Steemit inc has had their own issues directly due to them not having an external revenue source.

Instead of thinking like a business, Steemit thought like a startup.

They thought like a startup who had millions in the bank when in reality, their money wasn’t fiat and so, when the crypto bear inevitably reared its head, Steemit fell further and further behind and increased its burn rate significantly.

Trying to grasp at what they had left, Steemit tried to make it without a revenue stream and they did this by trying to hype upcoming releases such as SMTs.

I’ve found myself relatively confused about the whole situation.

Why does Steemit not have a revenue source when it would be so easy to get one?

I mean, even now with our lower Alexa ratings and daily active users, Steemit continues to be the top app on state of the dapps.com

And so, why Steemit isn’t cashing in on this incredible opportunity is completely beyond me.

I guess we’ll never know.

What we do know is that apps going forward will need to think about generating an external source of revenue.
