'I have loved the stars too fondy to be fearful of the night " ~ Galileo

In Bali once a year we have a silence day or Nyepi day.

Balinese people said it's a day reserved for self-reflection. Therefore there is some restriction such as no lighting , no entertainment , no travelling . On this day, nobody allowed to go outside their home. The bustling street become empty like a dead town, and the only people to be seen outdoors are the Pecalang, traditional security men who patrol the streets to ensure the prohibitions are being followed.

This is one of my favourite time of the year in Bali, to capture star trails, as there wont be any light pollution at all, as the whole island is dark.

I took this picture on Candidasa, on my last silence day trip.
