Scrap it and invest in the existing unused resources, and making the existing network more efficient i.e. run, run to time, modern trains, reasonable cost. I think it’s odd that I can fly to some UK locations cheaper than on the train. Quicker, reliable and I get a seat for sure.
People from Birmingham calling for HS2 to be scrapped, you do realise most of the current investment in Birmingham is because of HS2 and depends upon it? We need the capacity too. Try catching a peak or tbh any weekday train to London! Also need to free up platforms in New St for local services.

The whole discussion is framed as if the only two options are gratuitous amounts of lavish expenditure or nothing at all. How about a bit of sensible prudence. Start by asking why on earth HS2 occupy the most expensive offices in Birmingham.
What was we thinking about, taking tax payer's money. Surely the money should be spent on more cross rail routes in London and refurbishing a few palaces, such as Westminster or Buckingham, or perhaps paying for new furniture for Mr Johnson, should he become the next pm. Write off the millions of pounds thats already been spent, forget about all the jobs that were going to be created. One final comment, stop wasting money on the commonwealth games in Birmingham, after all we the tax paying public already own an athletics stadium in East London.
