The Legend of Termites

Ranay is very greedy to eat, who live in a poor village in Sto. Domingo in the North. Though they are poor she is very well indeed nurtured of delicious food by her parents. Since, Ranay is the only child they have. Her parents never thought that they can have a child because her mother is already old. But she was born.

Her parents loved her so much, they treat Ranay almost like a princess. They never allow her to do house choir, but instead they feed her every food she liked. So, Ranay became so dependent in her parents, because they pampered her too much.

Ranay grew up which the only work that she knew is to eat, and her hobby is also... to eat! Her parents turn to be so thin just to sustained what she needed. While Ranay's appetite grow tremendously. What ever kind of food they give, for her it is still taste deliciously.

Rice, bread, dish, fruits, meat, sweets and anything more. Sometimes, even food for her parents to eat still Ranay will eat it.

Then, what Ranay's so much afraid of came. Her father and mother both died in an accident.

And because Ranay only knew how to eat, she doesn't know how to live on her own and work for her food. Slowly, Ranay became so thin and died.

It was already long time ago since Ranay is dead, when their old neighbor noticed that their house is slowly falling down. When they searched it they saw an insect eating the wood.

When they saw the insect they remember Ranay, so they call the insect Ranay. In the long run it was called termites or "Anay" in Filipino language.
