Off The Beaten Path In Lisbon: Jardim do Torel and The Lavra Funicular
We're in Lisbon during the winter month which is the touristic off season but at times Lisbon still feels very packed and overrun with tourists. Especially if you go visit the top things to do in Lisbon which is on everyone's bucket list (I kind of hate that term).
We do love the great sights of Lisbon like the Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery but we're always the happiest to explore the little hidden gems of a city.
And the Jardim do Torel is such a place. We started the excursion by taking the oldest running funicular up to the park, Ascensor do Lavra. Which has a steep price of over 3 Euros because if you buy the ticket on board they force you to buy a RT ticket. Get a VIVA card and use that one instead!
Once you arrive on top of the hill it's just a few minutes walk over to the Jardim do Torel, from here you get a unique view over the city, you get to enjoy some peace and there is a cute little kiosk where you can have a glass of wine while you take in the views.

I have a thing for strange forms of transportation, mono rails, condolas, funiculars, etc ... even already when I was a kid. Maybe traveling was always in my blood.
