HOW LANGUAGE LEARNING CAN BE MADE EASY

In the country today, native speakers are advancing their English speaking abilities daily and that is a tremendous and welcome development.
This article will elaborately talk on the lapses and the methodology adopted for a second language learning by our teaching syllables and methods in which language learning could be easy and efficient.

Firstly I want to create a picture with these questions!

Why is it so easy to predict where a Nigerian man comes from when he speaks English Language?

How do you know a Hausa man, a Yoruba man and an Igbo man from how they speak?

These are the language differences that affect the acquisition of a second language by native speakers.

My idea now is that each state with various mother tongues should have different language textbooks for instance:

The English language textbook a Yoruba student uses would be different from that of an Igbo student and different from that of an Ibibio student.

Lados 1957 asserted that the teacher who has made a comparison of the foreign language with the native language of the learner, will. Know better what the real problems are.

This is based on the assumption that a student who comes in contact with a foreign language will find some features of it quite easy and some extremely difficult.

Those elements that are similar to his native language will be simple for him and those which are not willing be difficult for him.

In Ibibio language, some sounds do not occur like /dz/ and it's replaced with /j/ whenever it occurs to a native speaker who is not competent in English language.
While in Yoruba language, /dz/ occurs and doesn't pose any difficulty for native speakers when they come across it in English language.

In the light of this, an Ibibio English textbook will include possible ways of correcting particularly this lapse of /dz/ sound so native speakers of Ibibio can be fluent with it while pronouncing English words.

If we look at our English textbooks today, it generalizes the whole language problems irrespective of the tribes, dialects, language differences, phonological problems, morphological problems and syntactic problems that occur in various languages.

The textbooks today try to kill a million birds with one stone which is very impossible and it fails in that mission.
A careful study of these contrastive analysis will provide an easy way to second language learning that will aid both the learner and the teacher.

Have you ever wondered why in some schools, students tend to learn languages easier than others?

For instance in Ibibio language the words 'TOMORROW' and 'YESTERDAY' are represented with the phenomenon 'mkpoñ'.
When native speakers of Ibibio intend to say 'tomorrow' Sometimes they say 'yesterday' and vice versa subconsciously.
So, a good Ibibio English textbook would tackle this problem and look towards correcting it.

Bottom line: Identify the similarities and differences the native language of the learner has with the target language of acquisition, then the language learning curriculum can be built to enhance perfection and great performance at the end of studies.
