"All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." #LightTheWorld day 13

in #lighttheworld4 years ago (edited)

One of the simplest ways to #LightTheWorld is simply to get along with those around us.

This is possible to accomplish by simply following the golden rule.

If we wouldn't like people to treat us certain way then we shouldn't be treating them that way. If we want respect and appreciation then we should respect and appreciate others... Simple, but not always easy to accomplish since our selfish "monkey brain" and evolved natures often get in the way.

It takes humility and courage to be the first to act. When faced with a situation where the onus is on us to take the first step or reach out and make the first move we are often naturally hesitant, but being the bigger person and acting in a way that we would like to be treated usually pays off handsomely in the end.

Pride may stand in the way and we find ourselves justifying less appropriate and constructive responses because these seem to us to be our rightful reaction.

We can swallow our pride and be a better self.

—Matthew 7:12

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is called the Golden Rule, and if everyone followed it, the world would be a better place.

WAYS YOU CAN SHOW KINDNESS TOWARD OTHERS

  • Have you seen someone get bullied on social media?
Reach out to the person today and send some positive vibes his or her direction.

  • What’s something that could really brighten your day?
    Do that for someone else.

  • Have you ever said something you wish you could take back?
It’s never too late to admit your mistake and say you’re sorry. Apologize today.

Great post. I had problems in the past when someone criticise me and than I learned that most of the time that has nothing to do with me. If you point finger and criticise someone, you are subconsciously criticise yourself on issues that you did not resolved. Now I have much more compassion for people who always criticise.

Yeah. @bloomberg215
I will tell you something I agree I have more critics I consider them my friends
And now I do not care, do not say what they want so I'm determined to succeed
There is a saying I once heard and liked
Let them succeed and bury them with a smile

God word always burn in my heart, it guide me on the path to take.... Jesus as always been my light in my darkest of hours

So many people look at the world from a scarcity mindset. "If you win, I lose" But the reality is, when we can work together and get along, we all win. Together we are greater than the sum of our parts! Thanks for the post!

If we wouldn't like people to treat us certain way then we shouldn't be treating them that way. I really believe in this line maam @gavvet. Thanks for sharing this

Excellent and beautiful publication @gavvet, really that's what we need for a better world, that's why the scriptures say: you will love your neighbor as yourself, hence everything depends on Love, that unconditional Love that Jesus taught us, without selfishness, making us humble of heart to carry a bit of that sacrifice that God made for humanity. Today is a good day to demonstrate with our actions that Christ lives in us.

Dear @gavvet,

Great post you got there.

I am a new member of STEEMIT. I heard about this from a friend and we tried signing up, but we both do not know how to efficiently post topics/blogs. We would greatly and gratefully appreciate some help. May somebody generously spend time by giving me instructions about few basics of @STEEMIT? I already know about inserting images, formatting texts like BOLD and ITALIC. I do not know other than that. I already made some posts but seems inefficient.

On that note, I would like to humbly ask for an assistance on STEEMIT. I can see that you've been efficiently posting some topics. I also plan to post the weekly sermons I've learned from my pastor. A generous help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance and God bless!

Truly yours,

@alwintejedor

Great thought, if we don't want to be treated in someway from others, then we should treat them in that way. Yes friend, life is running around a circle. We come across many people in our way of life, often times we expect good treatment from others, but at the same time we care little about them. Yes, this is the act of our monkey mind. We always want more for us, we often forget that we are not permanent here, so gread and selfish attitude are the vice. You have posted a very knowledgeable topics I am completely agree with your thoughts, yes it is never late to admit your mistakes, thanks for sharing such a valuable message. Wish you a very happy and beautiful time.

Excellent blog post @gavvet. Some peoples don't ask and don't need topic. But interesting to me. Look at title & what's attraction here.

"All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."

I like your fantastic video you have made. We all want love and respect but sometimes we don't want to give love and respect, especially when we are at odds with someone and we're feeling hurt and angry. If you look down on people and treat them badly, they'll retaliate and appear just as annoying and hostile as you expected. If, in contrast, you treat people with kindness and respect in spite of your anger, they'll nearly always be far more flexible and responsive to your feelings and point of view. So peoples need to be patience and kindly any occasions. Let the other person know that you like, respect, or admire them, and value their friendship even though you're both feeling angry or disagreeing with each other right now. If peoples have ability Please Give the other person a genuine compliment.
you don't have to treat anyone with respect. You can respond to people any way you want to. It just depends on the kinds of relationships you want.

Thank you so much and best wishes to success your campaign @gavvet.

Wow very nice, your picture much off meaning 13 day,

Firstly I told you that, #lighttheworld already being most attractive hashtag post and campaign in steemit platform. It's bring forward without stopping. I have seen lot of steemians posted more blogs mentioning above hashtag. Today attractive topic indeed.
Firstly talk what about kindness. Kindness, the motivation, recognition and enactment of positive actions towards others, is invaluable. I realize this isn’t exactly a monumental act of kindness that is going to change the world, but it will make it a little brighter.but it can really turn my day around to get a genuine smile and acknowledgment from a complete stranger. Try it out sometime! Kindness makes the world a better place. And that’s because it’s simply contagious.
I have seen lot of ladies bullied from social media also. I have talked with them online. First I asked what about her sadness. If I can have any best answer I give to him/ her. Most important we can need to LISTENING. Listen important more than talk. When you listen to people, you show that you respect them and what they have to say. You honor their words and indicate that they are important to you. For people who feel isolated or unimportant, something as simple as listening can boost their confidence and self-esteem.
Than we can tray to be giving. Giving to others is a common notion of kindness.Giving manifests in different ways and is capable of turning someone's life around. Whether it is a money or a full meal, giving as kindness is important.
On the way If I have mistake to other person I every-time say "I am really very sorry" without no more lately. Loving-kindness meditation is as simple as offering positive thoughts to respected, loved, neutral, and hostile people in your life. Its Buddhist method of attitude change that fosters compassion for yourself and others. Finally I told that that would be brilliant conversation @gavvet.

May god bless you!!!!!

In my own view, I believe treating others with respect will become easier if you actually understand them. The actions of a person are usually driven by some kind of logic. There are very few people in this world who are driven by pure evil. If you understand their motives, you will understand their actions and you will understand them as a person. In our days nobody really has time for anything, but if you sacrifice your free time to listen to people and to understand them, you will find it easier to treat them with kindness. Passing them by on the street and uttering the word “stupid” won’t do anybody any good. Just give people a chance.

The way you treat people usually comes from your personality. However, personality is something that can be trained. You might not care what people think or how they feel, but if you just try thinking about how you would feel in a given situation, after a while it will come to you naturally. This is the best way to become a people-person.

Matt 5 vs 44
''But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!''

I pray God gives us the grace to live for others and not just for ourselves.

When i saw this post, the first thing that came to my mind was Colossians 3:23-24
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Whenever you're doing something, no matter how small or unimportant it may seem, and not thinking what you're going to get in return, that's when good deeds happen. People may not have noticed what you've done, people may not compliment you for it but the good has been done. That's when the blessing you didn't ask for is bestowed upon you. That's when the good amplifies and comes back to you. The world would be a better place if everyone had this mindset that you have.

These days of #lighttheworld has really changed how i see people and things. Nothing is more noble than reaching out to the unreached.
If everyone followed it, laws would be unnecessary. Quality of life would skyrocket for everyone. We can all objectively agree that the more people who follow this philosophy, the better the world we live in becomes.

Thanks for such a post, that should be the core of society.
If you want to treat people the way you want to be treated, you should also think about the feelings you have towards other people. For instance, you might be holding a grudge for something. How would you feel if someone held a grudge against you? You should listen to their side of the story and try to understand their point of view. There is no point in holding harsh feelings. Letting them go will do both you and the other person good and maybe you will be able to start over some day.

Also, You might think that nobody can judge you based on your inner thoughts. Although no other person can judge you, you could judge yourself. The way you think influences the way you act. In case you are thinking about how to treat others as you wish to be treated, you should know that it’s the thought that counts. You shouldn’t think about yourself that you are better than another person or that you are more valuable. If you think of someone less fortunate, you should be thinking about them out of love and not out of pity. Someday another person could also have pitiful thoughts about you too.

I just hope more and more people see this post, and learn from it, to make society a better place.

God bless you @gavvet, you have always been someone i look up to on steemit. Your efforts on steemit in trying to remind us the essence of christianity and why we should emulate that. God keep you alive and healthy to keep doing good.
That was why Jesus saying to the man who was holding the banquet, that when he threw a feast he should open his doors to the poor, lame, maimed and blind. In essence he should invite the underprivileged of the world.

These people did not have the means or ability to repay the kindness given them and thats what #lighttheworld is all about and even more. And because they could not repay and nor should the man expect repayment, he would receive a blessing from God for the good that he did.

This is the essence of the scripture. It is also the essence of the Golden Rule and the reason why the Lord taught that it is far better to give than to receive. When we give without expecting anything in return we receive the blessings of the Lord and that is far better than being invited to someone else’s party in return for their invitation. Or giving a gift because of an expectation that you would receive something in return.

We may not immediately see the blessing of God but you can be certain that it will be received. It may be in the form of the way people think and speak of you in the here and now. Or it may be that you will hear those most wonderful words from the Lord on the Day of Judgement, “Well done good and faithful servant.” Or it may be something else.

Whatever the outcome, the promise of the Lord contained in this scripture is that when you do unto others without expecting anything in return you will be blessed. Especially when this is given to those who are not able to repay and this is right to do. We all have a role and that is our responsibility.

Awesome. This is a very important and less talked about topic. Am glad to be privileged to be part of this. This will make life here on earth much better and safer.
It is a natural reaction for people to punish those who do them wrong. However, when we are wondering how to treat others, we should focus more on guiding them instead of making justice. The people who are trying to do others wrong have clearly lost their way and they need someone to show them that there is a better solution. Just think about how you would feel if someone did something of the sort to you. It may feel good for a while, but most probably you would regret it pretty soon.

When you are thinking about how to treat others as you would like to be treated, you should know that it’s not only about your actions, but about your words as well. It is common for people to tell a story in a way that is advantageous for them or that is amusing for the others. Although this may seem a good idea, you should stop and think: how would you feel if someone else said all those things about you? This also brings up the problem of gossip. For sure you know that it’s not nice to gossip. As a matter of fact, it’s not only that it’s not nice, but it can also turn out to be hurtful for the subject of the gossip.

I believe if we cultivate it as a habit to treat people the way we want to be treated, we would not only make this world a better place, but also have a lovely stay in this better world.

If we wouldn't like people to treat us certain way then we shouldn't be treating them that way.

Seriously I have learned to treat others the same way I want to be treated. I pray that God should give me the grace to put this into practice. @gavvet you are a great source of inspiration to me and millions of people out there. God bless you. Amen!

Thank you @gavvet. I am always glad when your post pops up on my feed. You are blessing to many by this #lighttheworld. Glad i am a part of it since the start. I was really reflecting when you talked about the places of humility and pride in helping people.
You see ego is a dangerous thing; it can overcome you to the point where you're blinded by selfishness. When doing good deeds, you shouldn't be thinking about what you're going to get in return. The moment you put an expectation to a good deed, it ruins the beauty of it. It's not the same anymore, it's been stained with selfish motives. It's not a good thing anymore, it's a disguise to a benefit you want to reap afterwards. You don't want that, it's dirty!

When you do good, you need to have sincerity in your heart. You have to be honest with yourself. You need to be thinking genuinely about helping that other person and not have any thoughts whatsoever about you at all. You put that needy person before you. I had a lot i am taking away from this. Its not about the giving, but the motive of giving and what attitude you have at heart while giving.

Such a good one. Treating others as we want to be treated is surely a golden rule, cause it's meant to make life here on earth better. It's just so unfortunate that we have not followed it.

From experience, I have found out that you can’t always understand or respect others, but you should make an effort to do so. It is proof of integrity if you can show compassion and respect for people even when you might think they don’t deserve it. You can’t know what they were thinking or feeling so you are in no position to judge them. You should treat others as you want to be treated even in the most awkward situations. There is no need to demolish their reputation or integrity just so that you could say all the things you wish to. Again, this could please you on the short-run, but will you be able to sleep at night? These are the kinds of things that could haunt you for years to come.
Your way might not be the best way
If you are working in a team and you have to come up with an idea, you shouldn’t think that an idea is bad simply because it’s not you who came up with it. Keep in mind that one can reach a destination in many different ways and your way may not be the only way. Learn to treat others with respect and remember that others can have good ideas too. Your prejudice might stop you from recognizing a solution that could solve all your problems. Give others some credit; for sure there are situations when you wish your ideas to be appreciated as well.

Beautiful one there.I love your post @gavvet. I once read a story of an unfriendly neighbour who always threw faeces across into another mans compound. He was so shrewd and unkind that even when he fell sick no one visited or cared except this neighbour whom he Always abused and messed his property up. Each time the neighbour visited the sick fellow, he would wrap a bouquet of beautiful roses and tulips and put in the flower vase on his side. He did that every day and the unkind man ask where he always got those flowers from. He replied; I grew them with all the faeces you threw into my compound. The unkind man broke down and cried and turned new leaf.
We musnt treat others badly even when they treat us bad

You know I love to treat people as love to be treated. I do it because I believe thats how it will be returned to me. As the scriptures says

Luke 6 vs 38

''Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

The more good you give, the more good you get. If you treat people well, you'll be treated well.

When you do a favor and expect to be returned, then you are doing business not kindness. Simple things become complicated when you hope too much. The truth is I like to help people. It makes me feel good to give. I don't do it in order to get anything back. I just believe that the more you give, the more you receive. It's human nature to want to repay. But honestly, it's because giving is a gift.

If you do, it will eventually come back to you, even when that's not your intention. And when it doesn't, you get the satisfaction of helping someone, which is my experience. Although modesty aside, we all have bills to pay and many of us have mouths to feed especially me who is a single mom; but when it comes to helping, I am very happy just by doing that. I do not feel stingy with it, the world has a way of rewarding such generosity.
Thank you.

Excellent advice! We were commanded to "love" each other and also our "enemies." You have many good reminders here and ways to help people focus on the good and love towards each other. Another good point you allude to is to lead by example. It reminds me of the scripture in John 13:34-35
"'I give a new commandment to you: 'Love one another; just as I have loved you, you should also love one another. Every person will know by this that you are my disciples, if you shall have love one to the other.'"

You are absolutely right to apologize. It's never too late. Many think that asking for forgiveness means humiliating yourself, so do not consider it necessary to apologize even if you are sure that you were wrong. In fact, this hides an elementary cowardice, not pride. A normal person apologizes sincerely. Because he acknowledged his mistakes.

The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

Some people say there’s no such thing as a selfless act—that any time we do something to help another person, we get something in return, even if it’s just a warm fuzzy feeling.

I’ve spent a lot of time playing with this idea in my head. It doesn’t really bother me to know it feels good to help someone else. That, to me, is a completely acceptable type of selfishness. What give me cause for concern are the underlying expectations we often have when we give “selflessly.”

We’ve all been there. You cover for your coworker because you know you’ll need her assistance next month. You give your sister $20, and then silently look for ways she can pay you back, even if not monetarily. You help your friend get leads for a job, and then feel angry when she isn’t as proactive in offering you support.

I’ve found that these expectations cause more stress than joy. They mar the act of giving, which makes me feel slightly guilty; they lead to disappointment if the person I helped doesn’t return the kindness; and they tie my intentions to an internal score card, which places a wedge in my relationships.
1 Cor 15:58
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Recently I’ve been asking myself, “What is my expectation?” before I do something for another person. The answer I find most acceptable, cheesy as it may sound, is to feel good and show love. Strangely, when I release the need to control what I get for giving, I get enough, somehow.

Wow. You made a lot of sense in all these. I have a friend who does exactly what you are preaching against. It doesnt matter how much you give, but how much love is expressed in it.
All little good actions add up to even bigger ones
It's not about how big the favour was, it can be the smallest thing ever. Someone may be donating thousands of pounds to charity but is doing that just because this is regarded as a good deed. He does not care, he does it without any thought, without any meaning, without understanding the purpose of good. Of course, the money is going to help the charity and he may get the blessing of many as well but you need to be aware of your actions. You need to do things through your own will, not through any compulsion of any sort.

Think about that woman who was crossing the road and fell because her heel broke and you helped her get up. Think about that old man in the line behind you in the supermarket who you let pass first. Think about that pregnant woman on the train who you offered your seat. It's all those little things which add up at the end of the day.
These are also an addition to the ways of showing kindness mentioned above.
Keep doing good @gavvet.

Your respect for others begins with respect for ourselves and we appreciate the limits of people to become a strong and respectful society and open the way for us to prosper and grow.
Our treatment of each other begins with respect and appreciation in order to become a society to be entertained by future generations

You are right as you say words in the very core and crossing
In order to make the environment in which we live happy to do as good as possible and to help others, life is short and affect the behavior of others There are many ways can affect others in evil or vice versa Make people love you and be happy.
Respect and appreciation is a must for others, each of us to respect the other and give the right to spread love and happiness and be a society to be sung by future generations.

Beautiful message, sir @gavvet.

Domar pride is one of the most complex tasks for humans, this requires a constant constructive self-criticism about the way i relate with others. A release from that belief that everything must turn according to my perspective and that i am the owner of the truth. It always involves putting yourself in the shoes of the other and many times practicing tolerance with what is out of my approval.

There are those who enjoy humiliating others, exercising their power to subdue the other, trampling the other with evil. These people are not emotionally and spiritually healthy, i believe, these behaviors have a background that needs to be identified and repaired. Teaching in values and a healthy family and social environment is fundamental in the process of developing our personality.

Note for example here in this social network, some users exercise their pride and power by placating others with negative votes, just for the fact they are in disagreement for X or Y situation. It happened to me, some time ago, a user told me "Nobody asked for your sermon, I do not want to know more about you, because I'm going to give you a great Flag" it was not even a post from him, but he got there with such fury just because I mentioned Jesus as an example of love and compassion for the other.

I will not deny that my sensitive nature made me cry, but then I made a deep reflection and tried to put myself in the place of this man, to understand that his aggressive behavior has a background. Maybe he lacked love during his upbringing, maybe he lacked education in the faith, maybe he was a victim of abuse, there are so many situations that may be hidden behind that behavior. Therefore reaching this understanding led me to tame my pride, forgive him but also lovingly beg for his welfare and the healing of his being.

This exercise of putting oneself in the other's place, should be a constant in our lives, in this way life would be kinder to everyone, because most of the time pride hurts us and also the people we love.

Respect for people is the beautiful mental picture that one draws on himself, and this picture is made up through his experiences and strongly influenced by the messages we receive from others, and no doubt that the way the person sees himself affects all aspects of his life. The lack of respect for one's self makes him an enemy of himself.
The Holy Quran mentioned several verses in respect
O people, we have created you from male and female, and we have made ''you peoples and tribes, so that you may know that I will honor you with God.''Surah Al-Khorat, verse 13.

Respect is one of the most distinguished of the wise. Perhaps one of the most prominent problems facing societies today is the existence of a crisis of respect among the peoples, as the lack of respect corrupts the mutual affection of the people.
communication between people is innate behavior and social interaction, including clarification and persuasion, and the removal of misunderstanding, it is a way in which the individual shows his desire to cooperate with others; it can be direct communication, such as personal encounters between individuals or between groups, It is the case in the audio or visual, or electronic, and God has mentioned the goal and purpose for which the blessings of man with many senses, and by which the communication with others, he said: (God took you from the stomachs of your mothers do not know anything and make you hearing (2), the verse indicates that the grace of the senses of communication created by God in man to follow the signs of the universe and worship the right of God worship.
It is a very interesting and important post especially in our society steemit to be very strong.

Excellent post and golden words! A person can influence the behavior of others. If someone else does not do this, he can make it easier for himself, simply picking one of the virtues every morning and sticking to it all day. If he does this, he will gradually become the owner of all these virtues. Thank you @gavvet

This series of #lighttheworld, is nothing but noble. After every post on #lighttheworld, i try to access my self and see whether i am in line with what God demands from me.
When a person does something for another with the expectation of receiving something in return, then the receipt of whatever it is in return is their payment and just reward for doing what they did. That is then the end of the matter just like Matthew 6:1:-
Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. In other words, whatever you do, make sure you motives are right. Do not do it for the sole purpose of getting the eyes of others focused on you so you can be seen by them.

The Lord teaches us though that it is far better to give than to receive for when we give without expecting to receive anything in return we have done something good. We have done something better than receiving.

In this world though the focus is not on giving but on receiving. Everyone is looking for a gift and there is an expectation built up in peoples minds from birth that they should expect to be given things at certain times and on certain occasions. And much of this is also driven by the expectation that they too have to repay every gift received with a similar gift at other times. Just think about the occasions when gift giving is virtually mandated like Christmas, birthdays and other anniversaries and special events.

There is nothing wrong with giving the gifts, but it is the attitude and expectation that is the problem, driven by the “back scratching” attitude of the world just like @bridgetoby said, and fed by commercialism and marketing. This should not be so.
I have chosen to do things the way of God and with the right motive. Thank you so much @gavvet, you are an inspiration. God bless you and all your endeavors, #lighttheworld will leep blessing lives. The works of your hands will bless generations. Keep adding value and positivity to lives and i am glad i share in your vision.

Excellent post @gavvet.
Treat everyone with kindness--not because they are kindhearted, but because you are. One of the greatest gifts we can give another is kindness. If someone is in need, lend a helping hand. Don't do it only for the people you like and respect--that's easy--but also for the ones who drive you crazy and those you don't even know. True kindness lies in the act of giving without the expectation of getting something in return.
(Luke 14:12-14)

There is a saying in this world that goes, “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” What it means is that if you do something for me I will likewise do something for you. It’s all about receiving in return what you give to others. This is part of the wisdom of this world, but it is not the wisdom of God as we see in this scripture.
We like to think of life as a meritocracy, so it's easy to look down on someone who isn't as successful or accomplished or well educated as you are. But you have no idea how far that person has already climbed or where they will end up. Time could easily reverse your positions, so be sure you treat everyone with dignity. So i will say that i share hugely in this vision of #lighttheworld and we are really impacting the world.

Mark 2 vs 15 - 16

''While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Acts 11 vs 26

''And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.''

Even the Messiah sat down and ate dinner with the sinners.the Pharisees wanted Him to treat them they way they deserved, but Jesus said no. He treated them the way He would want to have been treated. He has shown us the way to go, and if only in your mind, you can do the same.
Whether others treat you with kindness and compassion has no bearing on how you treat them. Become the compassion and respect you want to receive. It’s easy for someone to be nasty to you if you’re nasty to them. Don’t give them that chance. Make it hard for people not to see you in the radiant light you portray. Make them work to hate you, disrespect you or be ugly toward you. Make it easy for them to love you, respect you, and see you as the magnificent being you are.

Let's follow the lead of a the master, and thats what being a Christian means(Acts 11 vs 26)

That is what Christmas is all about! Thank you for this message. It speaks volumes .

Not only this special time of the year we have to take care for others, but indeed it is a good moment to get used to it. Maybe we all See that with kindness and a helping hand we make people happy. It is so easy to be kind and share! Thanks for bringing this under attention.

God bless you @gavvet for such post.
It sure is not easy to treat others good when they treat you bad.
But I feel when we we choose to focus on the right things, we can be able to act right.
Find something in a person or experience that was positive or beneficial and focus on that. There are inevitably circumstances in which you were or were made out to be the bad guy, and others made no effort to respect your role in the matter, or went out of their way to demolish your integrity or reputation. Do not follow in the same order, even if you feel it is just or deserved. You do not know what goes on in the mind of another or what motivates another’s actions. All you can do is take responsibility for your response to this situation, and choose to show ultimate compassion and respect when it is hard to find. Not only will this make you a better person, it will show others your true integrity and make it nearly impossible to doubt yours if it is threatened or attacked in the future. It may even redeem it in the past.

I have made a conscious effort to see everyone in my life as equal. I have come across certain people, generally of a particular faith or non-faith, who make clear through their conversations with me, and about others, that they feel a distinct superiority to others who disagree with their ideology. In the conversations I have admittedly had myself, I’ve discovered that I do not appreciate being looking down on, by believers and non-believers alike. So I’ve decided not to look down on anybody, or try to convert anybody to any ideology. I simple sit and talk with people, ask questions, listen to different schools of thought, and share my wisdom as I see fit. I’ve learned to enjoy conversations as a way to connect, instead of using them to push my agenda.

Thanks for such lovely opportunity to be admonished more on the issue of treating people the way we want to be treated. Thank you.

Talking about pride, the bible warns against that in the book of Proverbs 16: 18

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. - KJV

This is a very popular proverbs around the world, even use by nonchristians. Humility really pays off. Thanks @gavvet, for giving me a means to air my mind. #lighttheworld has been a very interesting tag.

Luke 6 vs 31

''And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.''

Eph 4 vs 2a

'' With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.''

Firstly,i want to say to you @gavvet to keep up this wonderful work. Your posts are an inspiration to me and to many more.

You know there is so much more to this saying.

“Treat others how you want to be treated.”

This saying goes far beyond simply being kind to people, or going out of your way to be available or helpful to those in need. Yes, you would want others to assist you in a bind or be pleasant even in an unfavorable circumstance. But there are many ways to create equality in your world that may go completely unnoticed by others. It's really just about adjusting your views and attitudes.

Instead of just treating others the way you would want to be treated, think about others the way you would want to be thought of. Feel about others the way you would want others to feel about you. Speak to others the way you would want to be spoken to or spoken of.

Focus less on punishing those who cross you or others and choose to guide them into a better frame of mind. Teach them not only the error of their ways, but the error in their thinking. This is not a lesson in condescension, or even conversion, but a way to understand the progression from thought to action. If someone believes he is doing the right thing by trying to control another or become invasive in another's life, first try to understand how that person feels his actions will get him from a desire to a result. Then, help him evaluate the consequences and perhaps choose a better way to achieve his goals and consider the goals of others. Always be open to seeing the other side as well, you may learn something.

Thanks and God bless.

Thank you so much @gavvet I am encouraged to even go out of my way to do good and reach out to people who usually are neglected.
But how many people do you know that actually make a true effort to practice it in real life?

If we all believe it, why don’t we all do it?

I believe there are two main things holding us back: Laziness and fear.

Laziness holds us back in the form of short-term thinking. Deep down, we know what is best for us and for the whole alike. But sometimes, we just don’t feel like putting in the effort to do it. Taking the time to really think about how another living being might experience reality in order to empathize with them is too often an unfortunate casualty of fast-paced cultures.
I really was glad when you talked about reaching out to people being bullied. I’ve gone straight to a bully and asked them to stop. Some people don’t see themselves as bullies, and will say,

“I only said…” until you explain to them that what they said is, indeed, bullying, especially in light of the differences in size and intellect between them and their prey.
Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

It never gets old, just put yourself in the others shoes, how simple. How difficult.

@gavvet,
Your truly great concept #lighttheworld, enlighten my day by this great quote and by your great way of thinking!
"If we want respect and appreciation then we should respect and appreciate others."

As a human, I do lots of mistakes and if it happens I will say sorry and ask for the forgiveness! That's why we born as human! That's why we got a brain to think! You are absolutely correct! At least from this day onward we should try it! Sometimes it might not very easy, but if you practice good qualities and absorb them, it will enlighten your entire life very well!

God bless you my dear friend! Lucky I found a person like you do!

Cheers~

This is certainly one principle that if applied by humanity could help to reduce a lot of frictions in our world. To prove that it is godly, Jesus emphasized it in his sermon on the mount.

That is really nice.. sometimes i do sit in a corner expecting for help, but it never reach out to me, i forget about the instance im on, and start to help others... hmm, i have seen many miracles happening to me after which..

  1. My heart become lighter as i see the smile on the person that i rendered my help to..
  2. I know that they feel light of themselves, since there is still a person who cares for them..
  3. Without i even expect, miracle of helps would come on my way, to uplift my own self from the situation that i sit first upon

Perhaps God send His' angels to help me out, since i help his angels on their needs..

Today God send me an angel in form of you, to remind me that Goodness is still prevails despite the world of turmoil that we are living in nowdays.. thanks for your steem post, that really brighten up my day.. :)

I achieved one of the three today..

Matthew 7:12 sincerely describes the golden rule of life which Jesus teaches us in the gospel.
Imagine what the rich who had ignored the destitute suffered in the scripture.
Great scriptural verse.
Please Sir @gavvet there seem to be no rewards in terms of upvotes coming from the #lighttheworld contest lately.

the golden rule 👍😄

if everybody could really practise the golden rule humanity will be better off than the chaos we have in the world now.

True True, however, most of the people are thinking only about themselves nowadays. It is difficult to find a person with a positive attitude who would share his belief and heart.

I'm a Indian Hindu Boy who went to a catholic convent school.
I heard this verse in the morning intercom assemblies.
It's so true and applicable to our lives.😊

Much like karma.

This Never occurred to me.
So much like Karma.
"Do unto others as you want them unto you"

The art and act of apologizing when wrong and even right is but by God's given grace. I have discovered that it takes a great and kind heart to stay at peace with others even when it is obvious they do not want that peace.

I love to kill with love because it pays!

I have started lighting the world around me. All of a sudden it feels like God is using me to put smiles on people's face and am loving it all the way. There are so many people who are so in need around of a sudden and I feel God is using that sutuation to see how I can be a light to the world. Am doing my beat and am grateful for that grace to help others.

@gavvet - Sir you are 100% correct... It's hard to find people who wish to ask forgiveness for their mistakes... Most of us keep our own beliefs & live on them... They think like they are the gods, whatever they do is the correct... They forgot why they are here, why god made them, what was gods plan on them...
I hope with your light the world concept you could light atleast few of these peoples lives... We can't change the entire world, but atleast we can try Sir... Now you are doing it... A valuable gift for the whole world...

Well said and nicely written. The feeling of being kind to people can never be explained. And on top of all the gratification, the ultimate gratification is from Him. So, let us be nice and kind. If you are not able to be an assistance soneone in need is fine but never ever be a hindrance or create an obstacle for thst person. Mother earth needs more people like you @gavvet ;)

Hello my friend @gavvet
The interaction between people must be based on ethics and affection. When dealing is based on a good style and a way of speaking, mutual respect prevails among people, and of course people have different moods. Some are calm, nervous, friendly, stubborn, etc. , And when each person is appreciated and absorbed as much as possible, this avoids conflicts, problems between people and, of course, adherence to the morality advocated by religion, that is the clear picture of how to deal with others. We can call the method of dealing with others, called (art), it is a way of adapting the person with the people who deal, or deal with them, whether in the neighborhood, work, market, or wherever it is, and assess the conditions of people, Certain boundaries help to make the person an artist in dealing with others, accepting them, and understanding them

We hope to support you (your vote is a great honor)

Posting anda benar - benar sangat bagus

I will openly admit that sometimes, pride is one of my weaknesses. Sometimes things are not going so well for me and for whatever reason, I’m almost broke but my pride won’t want people to know that and I still spend money on myself or others that I really shouldn’t/can’t affors. Is that a good or bad thing? Most ways, no but in others, yes because although I’ve gone without food for several days, someone else has eaten because of that pride. A weakness, yes...a flaw? Not entirely. Thanks for the enlightening post.
