When in Stress, Cook!

in #lifestyle2 years ago (edited)

I have been feeling unproductive lately. There are multiple factors that are making me think of myself like that. One of which is being less active for the past two months. It has thrown me completely off track. Not that I'm not doing my Steemit duties ( Moderating and Greeting Newbies) but I feel at loss about my own content. There are contests, engagement challenges, and a lot of other options to go for but I don't fit anywhere at the moment. I'm not sure what am I looking for but hoping that I will come around soon.

Last night, I was going through the same episode, staring at my computer screen, unable to decide my content. Not that I didn't have any, instead nothing felt appealing to me.

I didn't realize when I shifted from Steemit to Pinterest, from reading the debate of "whether burnsteem25 would be effective" to searching "quick dinner recipes." I am glad that I had success in the latter task at least. Soon I found a pretty-looking chicken dish and I immediately went to the kitchen to prepare it.

Now here I want to confess one thing; it's really hard for me to imitate a dish that I haven't tried myself. You can say, I have trust issues. Therefore, I made that recipe my own way, according to my own liking.

It was quite simple and turned out delicious and I was in no hurry so I took pictures during the process so that I could post them on Steemit later.

Pakistani females especially housewives spend most of their day in the kitchen. In our households, the day revolves around; What shall we have for breakfast? What shall we have for lunch? what snack shall we prepare for evening tea? Shall we re-heat the leftovers from the day? Oh... there are unexpected guests at the door, let's cook a dozen more dishes to flaunt the table and show them how hospitable we are.

Only if I could have the energy and time to record each recipe of the day then I could easily have a pile of content for the whole week. But it seems I need an assistant to recall me every few minutes to keep taking pictures which I keep forgetting. I thought getting a new phone with a decent camera would help but it certainly didn't.

Okay... I intended this to be a recipe post but I have dragged it too long. Without further delay, let's dig into it.

~~ RECIPE ~~

Cut the chicken into strips or 2-inch pieces. If I have less time for marination then I keep my chicken pieces thinly sliced so that the flavor seeps through quickly.

Add garlic paste, salt, red chili powder, Italian seasoning, and yogurt to the chicken and marinate it for at least half an hour.

I pierce the chicken with fork so that spices seep easily into it.

Cut the onions, tomatoes and capsicum. I asked my husband to cut these. My cutting skills are not to show on the food blog. I focus more on the flavors and my husband focuses more on the presentation. Together we create outstanding dishes. XD

Stir fry the chicken in butter.

Stop when it starts releasing the juices.

It deserved a little photoshoot.

So this was my simple recipe. I hope to share the better ones as well ( If I remember to record).

Of course this deserves a photo shoot. I cant wait to try your recipe and enjoy the yummy flavour

The common problem of women is what can I cook. Even if people don't want to do anything, we can't find anything. The food looks very tasty, well done. I got an idea too.

I guess it's the same in many cultures.

I am glad that you liked my food. Curious about your idea though. 😀

We make this dish, too. It is both delicious and practical ☺️ It is also very good with curry sauce.

Good to know that. I'm also thinking to prepare a sauce next time and see how it goes with it.

It's definitely delicious

There are times when we lose motivation and inspiration. The best way to restore that spirit is to reward ourself. Give appreciation to ourself. And God willing, our spirit will rise again.
❤️❤️❤️
It's look very delicious, dear. You successfully make me mouth-watering.

You are absolutely right. I have stopped being hard on myself for the things that are not in my hand. Just sticking to what I believe is right and trying to appreciate the little things.

I'm glad that you loved the food. I will save a plate for you. 😉

Ah, chicken breastfillet turns really tender and juicy after marinating it in yogurt (also regular milk, but I prefer yogurt). This one dish I must enjoy cooking and eating, for I love chicken with veggies.
Loved the stickers. One must have fun around here 😃
Cheers, @event-horizon. Hope to see more of your recipes. I'm pretty fond of Pakistani food 🥰

I never tried marinating with milk. I love how the yogurt gives a little tanginess along with the tenderness.

Chicken with veggies is also my favourite combination.

I was also having fun adding stickers but I had some problem in image uploading today so I couldn't do much.

Thank you for your comment. I just remembered that I saved some of your recipes to try as well. Steemit introduced me to great Venezuelan recipes. 😀

Oh, that's really nice to hear! Venezuelan cuisine is rather eclectic because we've had so many different cultural intake since colonial times.
Try marinating beef with milk for schnitzels; the meat turns really tender. I'm sure you'll love it. Cheers 🥰

I would like it! Because: when I'm stressed I start eating... ;-))

Haha.. Stress-eating is definitely a thing.

Really really it's soooo yummmy in look definitely in taste. Very well done.
