Illness and emotional barriers can cause incapacity to cry, therefore it's important to rule out physiological factors first.

After ruling out medical causes, explore the person's psychological world to figure out what's going on. It's crucial to remember that people solve difficulties differently. Each person handles reality differently, with different reactions and tactics. Thus, there will be people who can release their feelings quickly, those who require more time to digest, and those who are blocked by the strong impact.

Thus, psychological issues are usually caused by poor emotion control. This may be one-time but can cause sadness and other issues. Even long-term incapacity to cry during grief may suggest pathological mourning.

However, it is crucial to remember what crying means to the person because schooling might make it seem unpleasant or weak. Many people hide their tears for fear of appearing fragile or vulnerable until it becomes automatic. They may even fear self-exposure. This can lead to hostility, rage, violence, and somatization, which is bad for their health.

Dr. William Frey of Saint Paul Ramsay Medical Centre thinks tears are as vital as smiles. Although they cannot change what occurs to us, they lessen stress, melancholy, and allow the person to communicate with others.

Our tears are a defence and relief mechanism, releasing tension in any situation. So let yourself express them. University of Pittsburgh researcher Lauren Bylsman says sobbing helps the body reestablish homeostasis after being disrupted.

Crying releases stress hormones adrenaline and norepinephrine, which can be hazardous. This calms and soothes the body.

A research by biochemist William H. Frey found that negative or dramatic tears release endorphins. Also prolactin, potassium chloride, magnesium, adenocorticotropin, and leucine-enkephalin. Our bodily and emotional suffering from this emotional outburst is diminished.

Being unable to cry causes discomfort. It's like being lost in a sea of misery with no rescuers or land. However, there are other ways to release stress and start crying:

Our depths can be reached through mental emptiness. First, ask ourselves what saddens or makes us feel bad. After identifying issues, we might answer in the first person: “I feel…”, “it hurts me…” and consider future actions to reach the much-needed tranquilly.
