Praise the Lord! That's why it is stated clearly in the 2nd paragraph that "We were evil, filthy, sinful and corrupted." :) His death on the cross ushered a new life, a new nature in Christ. The old man is dead, and the new man is born through His resurrection power.
@fshllc, indeed it is "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. -Galatians 2:20"
