Am I taking enough risks?

in #life6 years ago (edited)

A couple of months ago I paid @tarotbyfergus in STEEM to do a reading for me. It’s the first tarot reading that I’ve ever gotten done and I was both excited and nervous about what the cards would reveal. I know that I’ve mentioned this specific reading in previous posts that are most likely buried. Well, here it is!

I’ve delayed making this post for a few reasons: It took me forever to edit the video, so I needed a break from even thinking about tarot. I was kind of worried that the video would look cheesy because I wasn’t able to record live footage. My gimbal was broken at the time. I had to wait to take better pictures of the cards since my first snapshots weren’t that great. There’s also the mental prep that needs to be done before sitting and writing up a huge post like this since it reveals so much about me.

The main question that I asked @tarotbyfergus was about risk taking. I felt like I was stuck at a fork in the road, not knowing which path to take. Should I think less and let things happen? What would I need to do to reach the next phase in my life? Was I taking enough risks in my creative process? Could I actually better myself if I took more risks?

Check out the video to hear the entire reading. There are somewhat mediocre auto generated English subtitles or you could read a general synopsis of each card drawn below.

PAGE OF CUPS // REVERSED

The page is similar to a little kid, emotionally open and naive. The page likes to help people. In the image it find a fish flopping around and puts it into a cup to return it back to the ocean thus rewarded with a pearl.

The card being reversed translate to an optimistic childhood energy which has been tainted. It’s an injured child that no longer wants to help people and would see someone in trouble and would turn away. Generally an optimism that has been lost.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

The high priestess is guarded. Her arms are crossed in front of her heart because she’s protecting her heart chakra. She’s very secretive and doesn’t care if anyone knows what she knows. She’s not one to boast. If you want the high priestess to pay attention to you then you need to earn it. This card sounds a lot like me.

THE SIX OF WANDS

The six of wands is about recognition. It’s about being praised for the things that you have pride in yourself. @tarotbyfergus was tell me that the high priestess showing up in combination with the six of wands is a weird mix of seeking recognition and being really secretive at the same time. See what I have to deal with?

TEN OF CUPS

The ten of cups is a happy reunited family. It talks about domestic/emotional stability and the support that happens in the home. The state of my home will directly affect my energy and much can be gained from this support system.

EIGHT OF SWORDS

The eight of swords. This person is trapped in the tower. It’s a long dark night and they can’t get out. The moon is trying to do something drastic and is trying to convince them to jump out from the tower. The sun is also coming up and it’s showing that this long dark nightmare that has kept you trapped is coming to an end. The card is saying that any amount of anxiety that you’ve felt isn’t going to disappear right away but it will come to an end.

THE TOWER

Everything shown from the eight of swords is to make sense of the next card, which is the tower. The tower is a prison of your own making. The tower appears when you don’t make changes in yourself and so the universe makes them for you. The tower is saying that there were always structures that have held you back but now they’ve blown up or are in the process of blowing up. The greatest meaning of the tower is to realize the freedom that you’ve been given and to take full advantage of it.

DEATH

In the death card there is a pregnant being and it’s previous child is trying to crawl back up into her womb. So it shows old patterns and energy that is trying to come back. The previous cards show that I have new energy that is ready to break out and it’s telling me to sacrifice my old patterns. There is not enough room in life for both.

It sounds like fresh starts are in the works! Taking a risk sounds like it’s worth it!

The ball has already been rolling. ^^ So far all is going according to plan.

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

My sources say no

Hi! I'm a bot, and this answer was posted automatically. Check this post out for more information.

Although I don't believe in tarot I think it's an interesting way to view our lives through a new lens and find ways that we may be lacking or deficient in our lives.

I think many people are not taking the risks they need to grow. Is there something you've been wanting to do but putting off? Is there an experience or goal that you desire pursuing, but feel like you're not allowed to or can't?

Yeah, we all avoid certain aspects of life until we run into a dead end. The problems are easy to overcome, we just need to scale the wall to reach new horizons.

Now you'll read the tarot cards? But in a more sinister version and creepy hahaha is a joke, they look very interesting

I’ve always wanted to learn but it’s much more enjoyable having it read to you by a friend! He’s always saying “You’re gonna die!”

Hey @vermillionfox, I love the way @tarotbyfergus interprets energies. He is clear!

Seems like a highly auspicious time to be implementing, based upon what you've learned from this assessment.

It is incredible how much we may adjust by making little adjustments with help from an ancillary view of what is here before us!

I hope you're making the most of this!

It was so clear and it’s crazy how all these signs have been there from the start! I’m definitely making the most of it, one small step at a time. :)

Happy to hear that, @vermillionfox! Happy Full Moon!

I have been thinking a lot about artistic risk taking lately. It takes a lot of energy to take risks on purpose, and I feel I should do this some more. For some bizarre reason my art has often been perceived as very provocative vene though I very seldom try to provoke, so it has in a way also made me wary, it is as if the risks I donøt take are taken anyway...

I am not that much into tarot, but as far as I know both the tower and the eight of wand is pretty negative cards, death somewhat less. Interesting that these showed up. And some really cool cards by the way. I really like the design.

It takes a lot of energy to take risks on purpose
Oh, I absolutely agree with you. I’m sure when the perfect moment appears then we’ll know when to just go for it. Provocative is good in my opinion. I’ve been told that my drawings/photography are sensual and I know that I walk on a fine line.

Yeah, the tower and eight of swords are probably the toughest part of this reading. It reminds me that there are still obstacles that I need to overcome.

If you check out @tarotbyfergus’ blog then you’ll see him unbox several sets of cool tarot cards. There was a super fun Game of Thrones design!

I checked his profile and found something even better than unboxings - he sings Swedish! I will go trough it to see the different tarot sets later, but I really likes the one he uses for readings.

Hahah, yeah he’s an amazing musician!

Amazing reading - so much information here. I never tried it myself, O though about taking risks, and I think I have the tendency to go crazy at times, but then there are times when I just stay in my safe corner. I should re-think that also. Whenever I took risks, for the most part it turned out good.
upvoted and resteemed

You should give it a try! It would be interesting to see which cards appear. I think I’ve been somewhat safe in take risks but it’s constantly changing. It feels like I’m playing with a puzzle...it’s complicated. 🙃

yes, I gave it a try (talking about taking risks not tarot) - I risked posting a old painting just now, but because of the content, and so that I won't get flagged for it, I tagged it also nsfw - and predictably landed in the Steemit porn section.

Yeah, that’s probably the same reason why I rarely make nsfw posts. What a shame. :/

Such an interesting reading and I think risks are always good. The one constant in life is change, so why not embrace it full on, I mean it's coming no matter what, right? Good luck can't wait to see how this plays out.

I agree with you because it’s thrilling. Since this reading I’ve discovered more about myself and how I can do to maximize my happiness. :)
