The Birding Blog - #3 - Greater Coucal
Continuing my blog with a bird picture a day with a picture of Greater Coucal.
This is a large bird from the cuckoo family, also called as the Crow Pheasant. It is distinctively recognisable with its large size and copper colored wings. The bird is failry common throughout Indian Subcontinent. The individual in this picture is a juvenile. Adults have darker and more uniform copper wings and red eyes. The locals call this bird 'Bharadwaj'. It is considered a bringer of good luck by the locals.
