Are We Slaves to Fate? Or Masters of It? Whats your say?

Fate is said to control everything that happens and cannot be stopped or changed. In other words, fate is a dictator of life. Fate controls our future, we serve fate, we pray that fate smiles on us. 'Fate' now has this intangible control over us that we now feel so bonded to it and bound to obey it.

Fate for me is a sociocultural phenomenon that is out dated. Intact fate has never been real. Fate has always been an illusion, a false truth. 

Truth, in the sense that we can actually design our own fate, we can mastermind our fates. Everyone has the capacity to shape his fate to be a successful one. Nobody was born to be a failure. So sometimes I just get disgusted when I hear someone say a person is fated to be a failure,,, all lies. Nobody is fated to be poor, I don't mean poor in terms of riches, but poor in personality, because not all wealthy people are successful people.

Believing in fate, (especially when it is not that of a positive outcome), starts building in us a mentality of low self esteem. We stop believing in ourselves, we stop trying and pushing hard, we stop doing things with our heart, because after all, the end point is clearly 'Negative'

Slavery to fate has been passed down from generation to the next. In old African traditions where lots of superstitious beliefs ruled and governed peoples life, Fate was King. A good example was the killing of twins. Every twin born then in calarbar was fated to to be killed soon after birth as they were seen as bad fortune to the land, before the intervention of Mary Slessor. Case of baby girls being fated to marry the king when they grow,.. All these stuffs about fate are just primitive and outdated.

So a bit of encouragement to anyone who has surrendered to his or her fate; your life is yours, you own and control it. That you made mistakes or some bad things happened to you doesn't mean that it was fated to happen that way,,, it just happened that way. You just have to learn from your past, shape your present and see yourself producing a bright future. This way you made your own fate.
