Tax Day

In case you didn't know, today is tax day for 2018 in the USA. It's time to give Uncle Sam what he demands. If you aren't planning on filing an extension, today's the last day to get it done. Make sure you have all those receipts.
In the spirit of transparency, @themanwithnoname is posting his tax return on Steemit so that everyone can see. My good friend, Horse was kind enough to do my taxes. He's a professional accountant, among other things, so I trust that he did them right... although I noticed that he didn't list himself as one of my dependents. Is he trying to tell me something?
Anyhow, here's my accounting for last year.

The only thing good about doing your taxes is being done with them. I spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about how much this government racket will cost my family and how soul-crushing it is to achieve something, only to turn around and see uncle Sam's cold skeleton hand out asking for his unfair share. Give me a consumption based tax or allow me to earmark how my contributions are spent... and I don't ant to hear jack about electing the right people or any of that bullshit. I would say horseshit, but clearly your post is evidence that Horse is a smart one!

I don't think many people would earmark their taxes for "bombs and stuff" if they were given the choice. That's why the government doesn't give the option. To give you some perspective, I knew a couple who were both doctors. They were French and lived in France. They operated their own medical practice, and they said that they worked for the government through around the middle of October/start of November... and worked for themselves the rest of the year. That's how much they paid in taxes. They ended up moving out of the country because they couldn't take it anymore. :/

I'll keep him alive. I'm not an "accomplished" enough writer that I could kill a beloved character and people would say that it was "moving." I would just get hatemail for it. Being that I like to help people and try to make their lives better, I'm planning on having horse live forever! :)
I should send it in. I wonder what they would do! Probably not give me $20,000 back. Ha ha ha.

It's not often something makes me laugh out loud, but you making tax day your day to return with your tax return is literally as awesome as it gets. And yes, banks get robbed. Every day.
Very clever and it's good to hear horse has other career choices other than master's horse. It sounds like he will go far.
I can see him now with one of those leather visors on his head, spectacles, a pencil between his teeth punching the buttons on a large adding machine with a tape roll and pulling the lever to record the transaction. :)
Unfortunately, I also hear him yelling, "Wiiillllbbbuuurrr!" so I'll need to work on that part. :)

Yeah, Horse is going to go places. He's a motivated and determined guy, so look for him to pop up in strange places. I was trying to find a picture of him with his visor, but alas his hard drive had given out and pics I found weren't licensed for use. ;)

Ha ha, I was thinking about it, but I decided I'm mainly going to just start fresh. I don't want to get behind on current stuff because I'm catching up on old stuff. Oftentimes it's best to let the past be the past... even if it's good!

Good idea. Leave the past in the past. Probably plenty of new stuff to catch up on if my feed is any indication. Can't say things have changed all that much so who knows what you even missed.
Yeah. I won. It was pretty close among the rest of the top 10 all the way down, though. Pretty cool to see that tighten up. And there were plenty of new people joining in, or maybe new to me since I'm still new too. But I think that's good. The more the merrier.
Ha ha, I'm not sure. From the quick scan I've done it looks like the same shenanigans. That's ok though. I'm recharged and I got to read taskmaster's article encouraging people to be positive, so I'm ready to tackle the challenges. :D
You won hands down. Like it wasn't even close. You could take a few more days off and still keep that crown! Yeah, it's nice to see people getting a little traction. Hopefully that means they're finding a place they feel comfortable and people that they like talking with. That will help in the comments department.
You did see that Dave moved up though, right? Funny thing was, he was telling me to watch out for Lynn all week. :) Even funnier, though, Mike (as in simplymike) is still using her phone to Steemit, and she was able to take second place. So, I'm not sure what it's all going to look like when she gets on a computer. :)
I'd love to feel like I can take the time off. And actually, I am trying to step away a little more, if only for the sake of the horrible ergonomics I currently have going. Need to do something about that if I'm going to continue in the league. It's taking a toll on the ol' carpals. They've been trying to tunnel. :)
Yeah, he hopped right back up there. Super proud to see him killing it again. I don't even know how to Steem on my phone. Don't know that I'd want to if I did know. Call me old-fashioned, but I believe that the computer is the way to compute. Simplymike is probably just going to blow us all away when she gets back on the computer.
As former king, I give you permission to take time off if needed. You gotta keep your headspace clear. It's also important to have those good erkomnomiks. You can't have your carpals acting up. That's just not a way to live if you can avoid it. Maybe get one of those special mousepads and keyboard pads that keep your wrists up.
I fear you maybe audited, for the inconsistency in your return. You claim to be well employed yet you have a negative taxable income!
Shoot, you'd think that Horse would have caught that. He told me that he was the best accountant/tax preparer in these parts. I guess we'll see. :D
