Day 14- Flipping the Swich to Recreate my Greatest Comeback Story
When someone is seeking great things, they have to have a switch go off somewhere that spurs continuous positive change that starts a new path. The path is so fresh and fills the spirit with new vigor spurred by the hope of reaching great heights which are now attainable, for your soul has gotten a glimpse of great achievement..... through getting started!
The largest hangup which creates a lack of success is in the mind. There have been great stories of athletes who have broken their back and gotten back on the field, court or what have you. It is never the physical that holds us back, but rather the mental blockage of perceived hope due to emotional damage. Once this emotional damage can be put on pause for a moment, and the process of going through the motions starts, the mental block is removed, allowing for a picture of what may become to start to emerge. Mine has come into focus today, while reflecting on my 14 days without alcohol.
I went into the gym the next day, after talking to some friends on SteemSpeak radio while I "had a few too many". One individual tried to discredit an argument I proposed, stating "Dude, you drink too much". Now, although I still don't believe I drank too much, when more than one person brings this up to you in less than two weeks, you often have to wonder if I have some sort of locked in confirmation bias based on me being so close to my own situation. So instead of debating it over in my head, I just decided to quit drinking and become myself again, with throwing around iron in the gym again!
So instead of being a mope until 2017, I have decided to have a reverse resolution of goals I want to accomplish BEFORE new years day.
Goals Set to accomplish by end of year:
Bench Press Back to 300
Squat back over 200 for 10 reps (I have had leg/hip injuries, so this one takes me a bit longer)
Run a mile on the treadmill in under 10 minutes (Not bad for a heavy smoker, and no, I can't quit that habit just yet)
Do 100 situps in a row again
Do any of you have goals you are setting? If so, create an end of the year goal instead of waiting to make a "resolution" and get the most out of 2016 with me!
Bench press at 300? You lightweight..lol. I quit lifting about 3 years ago, and I hate I ever stopped. My current body weight is 215, but when i was lifting regularly it was 225-235 and I felt much better. So, I will say this post will get me back in the gym, something I have been putting off for 3 years!!! A 300 press is really good, the squatting is probably a tough thing . Years of wear and tear from sports-primarily football- keeps me from squatting as much as i normally do. Add in knee surgeries, and it is hard to do heavy weight. I Love my leg workouts. Keep us posted on your results, Im going to start tracking mine when I hit the gym again...of course AFTER Thanksgiving hahaha.
As long as you don't wait til the new year. Yeah, I was at 335 in April of this year before I fell off big time.
Damn man. Is that your bench press or body weight?
Im now at a bodyweight of 245. When I did 335, i weighed 230
ok good. you about 6'0? I figured we are probably the same height.
About that. I did BJJ tournaments at 205 when I cut weight

I got so scrawny every since I discovered Steemit. Some get bigger, but either way the side effects of Steemit :P
Yeah, me too, plus a lot of personal stuff got in the way too.
Yeah life always does that. That's good you keeping your fitness in mind. That is something we all neglect at times.
True. Just handling negative stuff the right way has been my past blunder.
I would like to get back into riding my bike more. The weather around here always makes this hard this time of year so I need to encourage myself. I want to start learning and doing more writing and graphics. Raising my steem power is another goal too.

Prepare for the spring with a stationary bike while watching Netflix on your phone like i do
Nice ideas - thanks for your replies. Stationary bikes have not always worked too well for me - I tend to turn into a sweaty mess. I might give it another try in the garage though. I've been thinking of doing steemspeak I may look into that.
Love riding. Its very relaxing, especially on a sunny day.
Sunny days are great for riding in the winter. Usually it is cloudy and rainy around here. I need to get out there anyway, sometimes it can be warmer when it rains and riding is fun.
