Positive Language - Words Have Power

What is the first image created in your mind when you hear the word 'Paris'? I think the image will be 'Effiel Tower'. If I say 'London', you will see 'Big Ben'. If I say 'New York' - 'Statue of Liberty' and 'Singapore' will be 'Merlion Park', etc. As you can see our brain communicates through images and language is a tool to convey those images.

If you use Positive Language, it will transmit positive images. If you use negative language, you will create negative images. For example, you feel tired after a long day at work, a colleague approaches you and asks: "How are you?" if you answer "OMG! I'm so exhausted", that sentence will lower your energy level and the person who asked you will also feel tired because of the negative answer. Instead of answering "OMG! I'm so exhausted" you can say "I need more energy!", the colleague knows you are tired but that positive answer will raise your energy level because of more positive attitude. Therefore, you should use a positive sentence than a negative sentence. Similarly, if you want everybody to be punctual for a meeting, you have to say "Please come on time tomorrow!" instead of "Don't be late for tomorrow", if you want to comfort a friend do not say "Don't be sad" but tell him to "Cheer up!". We replace a negative verb with a positive verb, a negative word with a positive word and transform a negative sentence into a positive sentence. By doing those, we are actually molding how the mind perceives situations as "Good" as opposed to "Not Bad". That is an art of using Positive Language.

Once we mastered the positive language and communication skills, we will change our state of mind to think positively in any situations.
