I wrote about evolution of mobile phones in my previous post which highlighted the generation of mobile phones.

This post is going to be somewhat similar in a way that I am going to discuss the operating systems used in these mobile phones.

The first feature phones were written in java as far as I know and came with limited features.

Nokia introduced symbian software which was very advanced than others ans user friendly at the same time.
Blackberry came up with its own operating system and many other mobile phone manufacturing companies used their own operating systems and to be honest none of them succeeded to gain mass adoption except for the symbian which was successful than others.

In 2007 Apple introduced iOS for its first smartphone which was the best operating system till date and suddenly people around the world were using it.
A year later google announced its very own operating system known as Android and it was made available very soon.

Android is an alternative to iOS and has been very successful. It is the most user friendly mobile operating systems we have in the market. There were many occasions when Android overtook iOS and became more popular.

The Android software is mainly written in java, c(core) and c++.
The android is actually a modified version of Linux kernel and looks much like Unix.
The interface of Android is based on direct manipulation which can be accessed by touch inputs including swiping, pinching, tapping etc.

The android os consists of a notification panel at the top of the screen which can be dragged down to view all contents.
Android os consists of a virtual keyboard on which you can type just like you type on the physical keyboard.
It may also consist of a bluetooth, usb and WiFi etc.
The android is is available in more than 100 languages at the moment and the latest android version is Android 8.1 (oreo).
