Why I choose Steemit？

其实在中国有很多社交网站，有一些视频直播软件可以拿到奖赏，但是，总感觉像Steemit这样水准高，比较有文化和内涵的网站，中国却没有，所以我选择用Steemit，并且很享受记录自己的生活，在上面发文章。

There are many social networks in China, for every social network there is in the west, there is without a doubt an almost exact clone in China. There are even live broadcasting platforms which are now becoming popular and widespread. They not only offer people the opportunity to become internet celebrities, they can also be very financially rewarding, crowd micro tipping at it's finest.

Comparitively, steemit is rather tame, and of course, it is publically interrogatable. The kind of money that individuals have accrued on said live broadcasting sites greatly eclipse even the most popular authors on Steemit, but that's not to say that the content they provide is inherently more valuable. One thing is for certain, the market is so large that even a small percentage of tippers can mean very large rewards for popular broadcasters.

Steemit attempts to set the standards by crowd sourcing the value of content. Of course, a piece of writing, or a debate can often be a-lot deeper and meaningful than just watching a pretty face broadcast live. This is where steemit fills a much needed gap in China. A platform where creative authors and content producers can store their work, as well as have it publically voted on. It allows for anyone to easily look back and search for content way after it has been posted. This is something that is still quite difficult for broadcasters. Imagine trying to search for something they said in a replay broadcast that is 5 hours long.. not as easy as one might think, and certainly not as easy as searching on Steemit.

先说说2016年在中国被称为直播元年，映客直播，花椒直播，yy直播，水晶直播，斗鱼直播，就连我原来经常用的美拍软件也开发了直播，一时间所有的手机app，关于照片视频摄影录像都开发了视频直播软件。从最早的游戏主播，秀场直播，到现在普通人唱歌跳舞讲笑话玩游戏，再到网络红人直播化妆过程，明星们开直播拍卖自己在电视剧里穿过的衣服，一时间全面开启了直播新时代。今年6月份中国首富万达集团董事长在他儿子的熊猫TV开启了直播首秀，私人飞机上玩扑克牌，观看人数超过了30万。

So, lets fast forward to 2016. This is the year that live broadcasting took the healm in China. From, Yingke, Pepper, YY, Crystal, DouYu to the Meitu camera company opening their own broadcasting platform. Before everybody's eyes, it would appear that every popular APP in China has integrated some form of livestream. Livestream has roots in broadcasting gamers playing games and showcasing their skills. Now, it's anybody's playground as live broadcasts are now filled with regular people singing, dancing, telling jokes, and playing games. Internet celebrities from other platforms have jumped on this phenomenon and started broadcasting their flamboyant lifestyles, from where they eat, to how they do their make up. Some other celebrities have made a stir by auctioning off clothes that they have worn in TV shows or movies. In June 2016, the son of the richest man in China, Wang Sicong， opened his own streaming platform in the name of Panda. His first show was of him playing poker on a private jet and received concurrent views of over 300,000!

我在今年1月份的时候因为好奇，网络直播平台和把主播当作职业的女孩们怎么可以赚钱，就下载了映客。因为是过年期间，大家都在放假，所以两周时间我就拿到了1000元，当然主播只能拿到总收入的百分之30。然后我并没有很享受直播的过程，总感觉主播们基本上是陪聊的工具，把观众们聊开心了就能拿到奖赏。有的还唱歌跳舞说rap卖艺，还有直播睡觉，卸妆，吃饭，骂人的，不由得发自内心觉得这类平台实在有点low。我甚至不明白我因为什么而拿到了1000块钱，难道就是说了几句话，唱了几首歌？我后来决定不再直播，因我我真的很难理解直播睡觉一个月赚百万的女孩们，更难以理解给这些女孩钱的人们，总觉得直播会影响到一代人，更影响到社会的价值观了。
Earlier this year, I set on my own journey as a live streamer, I downloaded and signed up to YingKe.It was the holiday period for Chinese New Year so most people were on holiday. In just two weeks, I was able to make 1000 RMB from just tips! The site itself charges 70% commission so I actually received even more tips than what I finally got paid. The experience was quite underwhelming to say the least - it felt more like a chatting companionship service than anything else, as long as I chatted with my viewers and kept them happy, then they obliged with tips. Some people try to stream some skills like singing, dancing, or rapping whilst others at the other end of the spectrum you will find people streaming themselves sleeping, removing make up, eating food and even straight up slandering people. I can't help but think these livestreams are supporting the wrong outlook on life. People shouldn't be rewarded to be aimless in life. For myself, I'm not really sure why I was able to receive 1000 RMB, was it because I had a few chats and sang a few songs? I decided against live broadcasting again because I don't understand or support a girl being rewarded tens of thousands of dollars for sleeping, and furthermore, I don't understand who would tip a girl that much just to sleep. The internet can affect a whole generation of people, moreover, it can set the precedent for people's moral values for an entire generation in society. This is all against the grain of my beliefs.

直到我知道了steemit这个网站，在用的过程中才会愈加发现它的好。我们所写得文章，发的图片视频能够存留在区块链里，没有人可以动它。所以一旦有抄袭的情况，我们就可以拿出证据来证明文章的来源。同时他给了一些科学家，教授们机会，他们可以把自己的文章发在Steemit上，当作一个保存，并且会有更多的人关注这类文章，而不是从前只有一个手能数出来的4或5个人能看到。
I didn't know alot of things about steemit until I started using it more. But, I'm glad that I have the opportunity to learn more. For starters, since the activity can be tracked on the blockchain, and posts are partially stored on the blockchain, it makes sense for content creators, writers, and other authors who write original content to use steemit as a decentralised store of their content. Moreoever, it's exciting to finally see people with deep pockets of wisdom have their own place to share their work and have it viewed by more than a handful of people. I know that a-lot of academics have already started sharing their work on steemit. Whatever the reward they earn for their post, it is always encouraging to have people give the post a vote of confidence and stir healthy discussion. Because of steemit's decentralised architecture, it also means that a writer can now leverage steemit as a store of his works.

在Steemit上，每个人都可以把自己感兴趣的内容拿来分享，而不像直播平台，主播们能表现的内容非常少。Steemit的文章没有时间的限制，可以随时查看，而直播网站大多不能保留过往的直播内容，就算可以保留，花一两个小时去查看也很浪费时间。文章内容不能说有多高雅，但是会避免直播造成的一些弊端，例如直播会改变一个人的心态，自尊心，虚荣心的需求会更加强烈，并且直播的现状是内容低俗，有时候是难以避免的。
Everybody on steemit can share the tidbits of their lives and can do so in many creative ways, whether its through art, or creative writing, or a combination of both. This is something that livestreams will fail to compare. There is very little retained value in each segment of a broadcast. It makes it very difficult to catalogue past broadcasts and furthermore searching them. Whilst we can't argue with 100% conviction that written content is better and more elegant than livestreams, we can say that it does avert some negative aspects of livestreaming. These could be, changing personalities, loss of self respect, extreme vanity and narcissism all contributing to a general feel of vulgarity on livestreams.
