How to pimp your red wine and make it taste like a first class bottle of red wine - Gadgets #1

So a while back we went to a friends house and he had a so called wine areator which is coming close a old school decanter, which you see sometimes in high class restaurants etc. So after that dinner that night, we ordered a wine aerator online and tried it today the first time. It is definitely worth the money and it makes wine taste so much better. For the most part especially everyday wines gain lots of taste.

How does it actually work, here some facts:

So with this technique you are exposing wine to air which does several things such as triggering oxidation and evaporation.
I found on the web that Oxidation is what makes a pear or apple turn brown after the skin is broken, and evaporation for instance is the process of turning something liquid into vapor. Now your fav Red wine is made up many hundreds of compounds, and with aeration, usually, the volatile not wanted compounds will disapper (evaporate) faster than the desirable, aromatic and flavorful ones you WANT to keep in your wine.

Nice find @sunshinetraveler. The great thing about this one is that it has a filter to catch the sediment, which is especially prevalent in the older wines. There's nothing worse than enjoying a glass of wine and then getting a mouthful of bitter sediment at the last sip. With this you get filtration and aeration in one, and that's fantastic!

Thanks so much for your comment really appreciate it and glad you found some value in it.

I feel that most red wines really benefit from decanting them, thanks for the post. Feel free to use and explore the new steempub tag for all of your alcohol related posts. It features wine, beer, cocktails, etc. Cheers from Texas!
