Justifying Our Own Corruption

We excuse ourselves out of everything because we think we’re so fucking special. I’ll have my fingers pointed at others all day long, but don’t you dare do the same to me without knowing the back story. Double standards at its best. We’re professional self liars, easily able of spotting the dysfunction in others, yet incapable of seeing it in our own selves.

The supply of excuses one can use to justify his behaviors is endless, and so is our tendency to dig deep for reasons to make sense of our very personal shit show. We question others’ moves and motives all day long, but for us to take one single look at our own fuckery never appears to be a priority. We display our best game out to the world, utterly terrified of losing face.

Blaming the whole world for our own misery, don’t we all love to host a successful pity party? We’re never the problem - hell is other people. We’ll even go as far as walking away from emotional murder with our hands clean, projecting the ugliness of the person we are onto others.
Isn’t so easy to wear the victim tag?

Our claims are anything but rational and yet justifying our own nonsense is an art we’ve taught ourselves to master quite quickly. We don’t solely manipulate other people to reach our ends; we also manipulate our own unconsciousness to trick ourselves into thinking that we are inherently good, no matter the choices we make.

All the reasons are valid to keep on hiding our true selves behind the fake mask of authenticity. We play offense on others, and defense on ourselves to protect our failing integrity. The human mind is malleable, and so is our blindness to our own failings. We have the power to switch the flip from denial to acknowledgment. Running away from responsibility is the race only the unconscious take part in. If we value ourselves so highly, maybe it is about time we break up with fakery, and embrace the truth, no matter how much pain it contains.
