Symptoms Of Lungs Damage You Must Know

in #life6 years ago

Lungs are one of the vital organs of our body. The core function of lungs is to absorb the oxygen out of the air that we breathe in, and release carbon dioxide as a byproduct upon exhalation. The oxygen we absorb is essential for us to survive, as it is carried to all the parts of our body by red blood cells.

Damaged lungs are not able to carry out its function of delivering oxygen, which is so important for us. As a result, due to oxygen deficiency, our body can face severe damage in several ways, including the tissue and organ damage. It doesn’t only damage our health, but in acute cases, it can cause failure of different organs of the body. Our brain requires oxygen to function, and a reduction in oxygen supply can damage our brain which would result in health symptoms within our entire body.

This could be due to different lungs condition, which is important to be diagnosed before the treatment. A common condition is Chronic Obstructive pulmonary disease, which is becoming more and more prevalent around the world.

To help you prevent such a condition, here are some of the most common signs of lungs damage which you should consider as a red flag :

  • Reduced Stamina
If you find yourself out of stamina for no reason even for everyday chores, there is a chance that your body is deprived off of sufficient oxygen supply.
  • Cognitive disorientation
If you feel disoriented and confused continually and find it difficult to focus, it may be the sign that your brain isn’t receiving sufficient oxygen. Proper oxygen supply ensures healthy brain functions and our ability to think, learn, act and memorize.
  • Sleepy and Dazed
Due to a reduced oxygen supply, our body can become persistently dazed and sleepy. We may find it very difficult to wake up in the morning despite sleeping for a good number of hours. During our sleep, our respiration process naturally slows down. When we have a reduced supply of oxygen, our body has a natural mechanism of putting us to sleep in such a condition. That’s one reason that oxygen deprivation instantly makes a person unconscious before any other damage.
  • Coughing
This is an obvious sign of a severe lungs condition. Although coughing could be temporary and due to several other reasons, if the coughing persists, you are more likely to have a lung condition or it could be a sign that your lungs are failing.
  • Skin
Your skin can tell a lot about your lungs healthy. Due to oxygen deprivation, most of our blood remains deoxygenated. The color of deoxygenated blood is dark, while freshly oxygenated blood is always bright red. This could appear on our skin as blue, grey or purple shades. The first sign of oxygen deprivation is when a person’s hands, lips, toes, and fingers turn blue. It’s a clear indication that our body isn’t getting enough oxygen for some reason.
  • Difficulty in Breathing
It could get hard to breathe and the patient has to try hard to catch each breath by breathing deeply. It could also be indicated by shortness of breath or labored breathing as our body is asking for more oxygen.
  • Chest Pain
If a person has a chest pain, mostly our attention goes towards a cardiovascular problem or maybe gas. However, the problem with lungs could also cause regular chest pains. It could be due to a lungs disease or inflammatory condition of our lungs.
  • Wheezing Breath
It’s another important sign of failing lungs, as it occurs due to obstruction of our airways or reduced vitality of our lungs. The flow of exhalation is reduced due to the lack of elasticity in our lung tissues, which could cause wheezing.
  • Weight Loss
Weight loss may be due to several reasons, and you might be considering it a good thing. However, if you significantly lose a lot of weight for no apparent reason, it could be because of damaged lungs, since reduced oxygen supply can halt our development. Also, any inflammatory condition in our lungs could exhaust our body and its muscles. Due to a breathing problem, eating enough to fill our tummy could be difficult as it would cause a patient to eat less and get up without eating properly due to labored breathing.

Conclusion
Upon the onset of these symptoms, it's strongly recommended to get yourself checked by your doctor as early as possible to avoid lungs failure or damage to other organs. These symptoms could indicate an existence of something serious in our body which should be treated. See your doctor and let them diagnose what your lungs are trying to say about your body.

Thank you for continuing to share information that can be vital to our health. It's important to take care of our lungs. I prefer to vaporize when consuming cannabis because it's much better for the lungs. It's just a bonus that it tastes better.
