How To Avoid To Get Cancer
Cancer is now becoming a growing cause of deaths. This disease is very painful, and so is the treatment of it. Many people have to go through chemotherapy which has terrible effects on health. Cancer can also be an incurable disease, and people may be able to do nothing but wait for their time.

So, what exactly is cancer? It’s basically a form of abnormal tumor in our body due to the uncontrolled division of our cells. Our body is designed to control our growth wherever needed. However, in case of cancer our body fails to control the cell division which results in tumors and organ dysfunction. There can be two types of tumors, benign and malignant. Benign is less dangerous, as it remains where it’s formed and doesn’t spread to other parts of the body. While malignant is very dangerous as it can spread in any part of the body and usually it’s more difficult to cure.
We and our lifestyle have a lot to do with the formation of cancer in our body. Most of the times we don’t even realize the things we are being exposed to that can cause cancer. So, here is a list of things you can do to minimize the risk of cancer for yourself, and your friends and family. I recommend you that after reading this, please spread the information and awareness to your friends and family so that they can keep themselves protected.
- Cleanse your food
Whatever you buy from the market, make sure that you wash and clean it as much as possible before consuming. It’s even better to peel some of the vegetables off. Research has shown that we are exposed to a dangerous level of pesticides through the foods that we eat. Also, try to eat less outside unless necessary, or choose a renowned hygienic place to eat. - Avoid Processed Food
Processed foods are filled with a lot of chemicals and preservatives that aren’t actually food, but we are continuously consuming them. Consuming these chemicals on regular basis can increase the risk of cancer while eating fresh food items increases our body’s capacity to prevent cancer. Try not to snack unnecessarily on a bag of chips every now and then. Cut down on the food items we usually find packed. The food items that stay on the store shelf for weeks and even months aren’t fresh foods. Fresh foods are perishable, that’s one way of nature telling us to eat our food fresh, otherwise, they aren’t edible. Also avoid colored food products, as the food dyes are chemicals themselves and harmful to our body. Research shows that artificial food dyes can cause cancer. - Avoid Plastic and Styrofoam
While Styrofoam is now banned in many countries, it is still being used in the others. It’s a white material, usually used for food packaging. However, it’s extremely toxic and carcinogenic, and when we put hot food in it, our food becomes even worse. The material particles can mix into our food and cause cancer. - Gas Tank
Now, this may sound surprising, but a gas named Benzene is extremely toxic and can cause cancer. Try not to get your car’s gas tank completely full, as it can release invisible benzene that we would inhale. - Indoor plants
If you live in a metropolitan or urban environment, you will be familiar with the polluted air quality we inhale every day. The problem is that we are now so used to it that we don’t even notice. However, keeping indoor plants can clean the air of our house where we spend a lot of time. - Reduce Chemical Exposure
While it’s at your workplace or if it’s at your home, whatever chemical products you get exposed to, make sure that you are protected enough and avoid direct exposure as chemicals can also cause cancer. - Reduce Exposure to Sun
The sunlight consists of three types of UV radiation mainly, UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C. The first two types are very dangerous, as they can cause skin cancer and penetrate deep into our skin. UV-C is comparatively very safe for us, and that’s what our body is looking for. The ozone in the stratosphere blocks the UV-A and UV-B type of dangerous sunlight. However, after the industrial revolution, the ozone protective layer is being damaged, and more of the harmful radiations are now leaking in from the ozone layer. We must reduce our exposure to sun and use sunblock significantly. - Sex and Needles
STDs can increase the risk of cancer, so make sure you limit the number of partners and keep it safe and protected. Also, never share any needles or injectables with anyone. - Exercising
Exercising can even protect cancer! Keeping our weight to the healthy levels and remaining physically active can be a good way to increase our immunity to prevent cancer. Also, it decreases the risk of other diseases which can increase the risk of cancer, such as HPV and hepatitis. - Say no to smoking
Or any other type of tobacco consumption. Tobacco is already notorious for giving cancer to thousands of people every year worldwide. Give up on your smoking habits as soon as possible and try some alternatives. More than that, avoid passive smoking. Research shows that the people who passively inhale cigarette smoke are more at risk of cancer than the smokers themselves. - Go Green
Now that’s a broad definition. Go green from your food to your environment. Start eating dark green leafy vegetables as they are extremely healthy. Broccoli is great, and so are the Brazilian nuts that you should definitely try. Also, work on improving your environment and the pollution hazards associated with it.

I especially like what you said about green leafy vegetables! We all eat too little of it ! But I think literally THAT is the one and only BEST thing to prevent you from ever having cancer ! Dr fuhrman has great books on that - for example - ‘fasting and eating for health’ ;)

When all is said and done, @steemhealthcare, whether it is cancer or ulcers or.....any disease, it all comes down to our lifestyle. Indeed, every advice you have here above correctly recommended, is basically achieved through lifestyle change.
Admittedly, that is not an easy thing to do. We humans can be so stuck to what we know, that adopting changes, however important, can itself become another sickness!
Earlier on today, i read another post, i forget the author in which he spoke of the importance of valuing our health. He posted that, while sitting in a hospital corridor waiting for the results of his wife's medical test.
My take, on his declaration, is the same i will give even here, namely that the most important choice one can ever make in his/her life, is the health choices.
For most people, lifestyle change becomes an option, only long after they have been diagnozed with some disease. Of course the problem is that it is almost always too late.
So overall, as is popularly cited, prevention is better than cure. In no other disease, mark you, is this more applicable than cancer.

Best thing about this list is that anyone can do it and all it takes is willpower, if people follow this advice then we would see the cancer rate go down slowly, it doesn't require much effort at all.

This is so important to know. The environment, and gas tank, things I did not think too much about. I would like to add emotions to this list, things like hate, resentment, and anger. Be forgiving and let things go or you risk making yourself sick.
