This is how we end "Fasting"

in #life5 years ago

Fasting is good for health, and now a days it is a trending practices among people to keep fasting every now and then for good health and well being. Infact I also believe that fasting once a week is good as it allows our body mechanism to take rest from regular activity and helps to keep our healthy and fresh. People do follow a strict regime to do fasting.

However, In India, we do not need to keep a tight schedule of fasting. There were so many festivals and faith that allows people to keep fasting. Apart from known festival many people do often keep weekly fasting in the name of God to have the blessing. Like Monday for Shiva, Tuesday for Hanuman, Thursday for Vishnu , Friday for Santoshi Mata. Recently, we had a festival for well being of Children call JEEVITPUTRIKA festival where every mother abstain themselves from food and water for entire day. And the next day having a mega treat at home for everyone.

Cooking variety of snacks and food item the next day even after being in fasting for complete day. That is strength of Indian motherhood ,who keep themselves going all the time without bothering of own wellbeing. Next day of fasting where many people like to end up eating anything they get, Indians mother prepare many dishes for their child. However, the main item is the "Dal" made of sprouts. We have them in raw and later it is cooked too to have them for our meals.

There are other items too to give company to Dal. The plate full of sample dishes is just an example of what is in oferring to end up the fasting. With pakoras, fries and salads we get everything.

Here, the plate full of food items contains, Cucumber, fried banana, fried lady finger, fried Tomatoes, Suran vegetable, and Shrimp vegetable. Apart from this we have many fried item too for entire day.

This is how this particular festivals for the well-being of children comes to an end. These food items were prepaired to keep the child happy with all sort of recipie. This is just a glimpse of inside Indian culture. Also how a mother keep themselves active to prepare so many after spending a day without food and water.

A Salute to every Mom

A day of fasting and then day of feasting.

Stay Calm....

Keep Steeming...Steem On !!!

Are there any 7 day fasts?

Not 7 day but we do have fasting for 9 days when the worshiper mostly eat fruits. That is during "Navratra" or say "Durga Puja Festival" when the devotee worship for the blessing of Maa Durga. The festival runs for 9 days...and there after in many places we have mass meals for everyone.....that happens twice in year. Tye next will be starting in 3 day time...i.e 29 Sept

Sounds like there are different kinds of fasts. When I think of fasts I think of no food just water. A fruit fast sounds wonderful. Is Tye a water fast?

The food looks good! I do intermittent fasting to keep my weight down which helps me somewhat. I take my hat off to people that fast for longer than a day or two. my willpower sucks. thank you for an informative post.

Thanks dear, glad you like it and also get some insight on Indian culture. Here in some month, many people keep fasting for 9 days without eating salt and grain....

My pleasure. We live in Mauritius with a huge Indian population and have just recently spent two days in Chennai and ten days on Andaman Island. Interesting culture. Really enjoyed it. 😊
