๐ŸŽฏ KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! ๐Ÿ“š... Does Reading Books Make You More Successful? ๐Ÿค“... Do You AGREEE?

More than 97% of Americans spend MORE money on food watching 1 NBA finals game, than they do in books for an ENTIRE YEAR... ๐Ÿ€

I find it FASCINATING the average American spends money on everything BUT books ๐Ÿ“š to obtain knowledge to become GREAT!! ๐Ÿค” They rather spend it on...

โ€ข$190 a month on fast food... ๐Ÿ”
โ€ข$85 a month on clothes... ๐Ÿ‘•
โ€ข$400 a year in Gambling... ๐Ÿ’ฐ
โ€ข$1 out of every $100 on alcohol... ๐Ÿบ
โ€ข$25 on Cable... ๐Ÿ“บ
โ€ข$85 a month on Coffee... โ˜•๏ธ
โ€ข14% of income on cigarettes... ๐Ÿšฌ
โ€ขBut spend less than $20 a year in books... ๐Ÿ“–

Award winning financial planner Peter Dunn says the average American should spend 5% of their disposable income on clothes...

Although your appearance is important, you can't sell dreams looking like a nightmare true and you attract what you are... But if you make $5,000 in income, that would mean spending around $300 a month on your fashion is recommended.... That's INSANITY!!! Let me show you how to go buy 1 pair of nice dress shoes for $60, a 5 nice blazers at goodwill or Salvation Army for less than $20, 2 packs of white t-shirts for less than $15, a haircut once a month for $5... And how to take that other $200 and buy BOOKS and find mentorship... ๐Ÿ’ฏ

If we go buy a sushi dinner spend $20 wake up the next morning it's all gone, we're the sucker here... Stop investing into things that just rust, rot, or depreciate... Invest money into your MINDSET and GROWTH... ๐Ÿฑ

If that's the case I believe at LEAST 30% of your income should be spent on BOOKS, SEMINARS, SELF EDUCATION, MENTORSHIP, CONFERENCES... You wanna be successful.... Get in proximity of successful people who are doing what you wanna do simple... All secrets are in books... And we are the average of the people we spend the most time and energy around... ๐Ÿ”ฎ

Used book stores are TEMPLES of the WEALTHY, and used books are TREASURES of the RICH... If you spend more time in the bar or club every week than the library or book store, don't expect your bank tellers and bankers to know you by name...โšฑ๏ธ

You can literally find MILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars worth of knowledge, wisdom, ideas, studies, information, opinions, in pieces of literature they resell for $.50, $1, $3, $5, $8... ๐Ÿ’ต

Real friends don't let friends have bigger TVs than Bookshelves... ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Stay curious my friends... We all deserve what we are willing to learn... Become the Champion of your OWN life... ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡๐ŸŒ™โญ๏ธ๐ŸŒ•

I hope this blog post helps thousands of people and that they don't take it personally... Having some self awareness of your weekly actions can change a persons life. ๐Ÿ’š

Cool post @stackin!

Harry Truman said, โ€œNot all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.โ€
It means every reader has its own style of reading.
Leaders of course read far beyond an ordinary reader.

For leaders reading this post, comment on my comment.
Readers of course can also comment lol!

Lets all read and learn from experience!

You have the best comment of the day @ronel :)

Depends on your basic common sense, understanding of REALITY, and your level of reading comprehension. If you only have a 5th-grade level reading comprehension like most adults who work for someone else do, then you would only get a 5th grade level understanding out of what you read, regardless to how many books you would have read or what those books are about. Because, reading a book about metaphysics and quantum physics (for example) isn't going to enhance your reading comprehension skills in order for you to be able to apply what you read in any real world situations. You would just be full of information that you do not understand, maybe be able to repeat and regurgitate, but no idea how to USE it. You may appear to know what you're talking about to idiots, but wouldn't be able to have a dialogue with anybody who actually knows about what you read based on first hand experience. Also, if you don't have an imagination, you wouldn't even see if what you are reading checks out or makes any real world sense, you'd just think everything you read is the truth. Even if what you read 3 days ago contradicts what you've recently read, you would just marry to the last piece of information that you took in. You'd just have surplus information, but no working knowledge of anything.

But there are even mentally retarded people who can memorize whole books and regurgitate the whole book back out. That does not mean they understand any of it or can break it down further in a way that the average person can understand it, because they wouldn't even be seen as mentally retarded if they could.

Wow, what a deep thinking comment, you have the self awareness most people don't... will be following you ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

You're right on the money, knowledge is priceless. It doesn't cost much to educate yourself and there is no excuse other than laziness. - Myself included! You've definitely inspired me to pick up a book instead of a dvd like I have been doing a lot recently!

So funny @Clintjunior ... I have like 1000 DVD's still and no DVD player ... Movies I still respect lol

It depends on what you are reading and your ability to understand and practice. However reading helps the brain to be active, thanks for sharing

That true @charles1 ... More and more people are going to audio books these days but thats still better than watching a sporting event. :)

I read audio books in the car on my way to and from work. That way, the commute is not a waste of time.

BOOM... better than music lol

Ha ha yes.

Anything can be taken away but knowledge can never be taken away from you
Executed knowledge is Superpower!

YES!!... It's so powerful :)

I love to read...but I am nerdy like that.

That's fine @olmech ... I'm way more nerdy than you are haha

Just Shared on Twitter... the more people who knows about STEEM and Books, the better ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ’•

Yes and no... books are vehicles for ideas. Ideas by themselves don't have much value. They are tools, if you are not applying them to something they are in fact useless. Don't get me started on Tai Lopez he is a charlatan... his advice of reading a book a day is not going to do much for you. Ideas need to be learned, used evaluated and discussed to fully understand them.
Derek Sivers has a great quote:
If information was all it took, we'd be all billionaires with 6-pack abs.
Same with seminars. If you don't act on the ideas, which most people don't do by the way, you are not getting ANY return on investment other than a temporary good feeling.

Some ideas require DEEP thinking: you need to stick with it for while to internalise them and then ACT on them. Better to deeply understand only a few and apply them consistently than hundreds you know superficially.
That said, it is always useful to have more tools at your disposal. The more useful ideas you know, and are able to apply, the better.
But you need to revisit ideas from time to time to get to the hidden, more advanced layers.
Take a book like Dale Carnegie's "How to make friends and influence people".
From the first reading you may take away say 5 ideas.
If you apply just one or two ideas consistently in your day today life you might get amazing results.
But to extract the full value of that book, you have to come back to it and evaluate the ideas in it again WITH your newly gained experience, it is only then that the deeper meaning and consequences of the idea begin to reveal themselves. Or you might actually find out they are not as robust as they looked on paper, so you need to critically re-evaluate them.
A book like this you probably could/ should re read every YEAR and learn more and more sophisticated lessons from it each time.
Yes books can be great but it takes time and application of ideas to get value out of them.
Obviously there are also a lot of crap books so good curation is essential;
check out https://sivers.org/book for a great list.
Most of the books are worth a read but be selective!
His notes are awesome. Like the ideas?
Buy the book; read it absorb the ideas and apply them! Then later revisit when you have some experience...
I am also discussing this on this post Mind your knowledge

Totally agree. I've been so caught up in life lately that I hadn't read a book in years. Three weeks ago I picked up some books on investing and read 4 in that time. Not only did my knowledge expand by leaps and bounds, but I remembered how much I enjoy reading and reclaiming that time where I'm not plugged in to the net or tv. Read on!

You the man @imagin8orr ... things are changing fast... more and more people are getting their in from YouTube and audio books, either way more and more people are learning new things everyday... keep being a boss ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

I am where I am today because I always had a book in my hand, often reading 2 or more at a time. I get really absorbed in books that take me out of the proverbial box and stretch my current beliefs. Love others life experiences the most. Great post.

Hey @Sunscape ... it's so hard to find book readers these days. I am glad I found one right here :)
