Essential skills in life: First aid

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” ― Charles Dickens

Life is uncertain. We are fragile and, in a second, our lives could end. Although it’s a bit dark, you know as well that this is the truth.

Even though technology has advanced and we pushed the boundaries on improving the life that we have, we still could die at any given second of our lives. No matter how healthy you are, the dangers are at any corner. If thousands of years ago we could die at the hands of a beast that was lurking in the shadows, today we could get hit by a car while casually crossing the street.

You never know when something bad could happen, something life threatening could happen to you or someone around you. And in this kind of situations is important to know a little bit of first aid. It could save a life. It could save your life.

Why knowing first aid is important?

It’s easy to call 112 or 911 or any other emergency number from your side of the world. But they are far away. And until they arrive, the person in need could die. Knowing first aid could help that person. This is why is called first aid. Because everyone could give it to one in need, if he has the knowledge.

One of the basics of first aid training is prevention. Better safe than sorry. Having knowledge of first aid basics, not only that will help someone in case of an accident, but it might prevent the said accident. This is why is recommended to look both sides when crossing the street. Because you never know who is behind the wheel. Safety first.

You will make your environment safer. Knowing how to react in dangerous situations and knowing how to prevent such kind of situations will create a safe space around you. And you and the people around will feel more secure because of this. It’s good to know that when in need, someone will have your back. Especially in life threatening situations.

How to get a first aid training?

I won’t beat the bush around this. First aid training must be done by the professionals. There are many organizations that offer such kind of training. You just have to look one of them around you.

Of course, you could study some basics on dedicated websites and watch some videos on YouTube, but you will never get feedback on your work. You will never know if what you do is correct. This is why first aid training must be done in a correct environment.

So if you want to learn more about first aid, look around trainings and courses that could be help near you.

Be healthy. Be safe.

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” ― John Holmes

in some places you can learn it for free or even get some extra credit!
I did! :P muaahahah

Really nice info to know.
Thanks for sharing :)

Many years ago I did a very good course with the Saint John's Ambulance service in Great Britain. I suspect that the material and procedures I learnt are way out of date now. I do know that you really have to attend a course where they simulate accidents, a theoretical course will never be enough.
