BUFFETT Says Best Time to Invest Was Years Ago...Hmm...And, the 2nd Best Time?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

This post is the second in a series of wise investment quotes by Warren Buffett.

SOMEONE'S SITTING IN THE SHADE TODAY BECAUSE SOMEONE PLANTED A TREE A LONG TIME AGO.

This quote highlights the importance of investing. Buffett says the best time to buy was years ago, with the second best time being today.

If you are new to investing, as I am, you probably missed out on the best time to buy crypto in the 21st century, aka BTC.

Even though Buffett is not a promoter of crypto, in this quote, Bitcoin would be the tree that people are sitting under. Had people not planted seeds into the BTC coiffeurs, as they have consistently done, this huge ‘oak’ wouldn’t exist. All of the alt-coins that follow, are trees and tiny little seedlings of the future.

So, to keep this post short and to the point, plant seeds, make investments today, so that decades from now, you and others can have a grove of trees, aka investments, as a financial nest for your needs and those of your heirs.

Another take on this quote is, Warren Buffett believes strongly in HODL. He makes a buy, and lets it grow strong, long roots. He doesn’t buy anything he doesn’t believe in for the long haul. If he can’t envision its use in the long-term future, it’s a no vote, no matter how highly promoted it is.

Speaking of promotions, there are many, many coins that are getting a lot of attention. It’s up to each individual to do the research; and, discern what speaks to them from the white or blue paper. If there is no whitepaper, or a shell of one that’s outdated, this is a huge sign, that your money could be better invested.

This doesn’t mean Buffet’s made perfect judgments in his decades of investing. He has missed several opportunities which have grown into long-term giants, i.e. Amazon and Google. His response to these misses is, don’t ignore clear winners, especially those that are right under your nose. He alluded to being an effective client with ads on Google, yet not being able to understand its value per investing.

But, as a firm believer in HODL, he wouldn’t be the investor who bought shares one day, got cold feet the next, and sold his shares. I find this somewhat humorous, as I did that once. I bought, got cold feet because I didn’t know enough about the coin; then, turned right around and repurchased the shares. I took a minor loss; but, it showed me what happens when you invest without a plan. FUD can create real wide-awake-at-night anxiety; and without a strategic plan for cutting losses, and investing gains, you will not be a happy camper in trading.

If you buy safe stocks with safe dividends than you don't care if price is dropping. Buffet is doing that and that is why he missed Amazon and Google, they don't pay dividends. With crypto you can do same. More and more cryptos are paying dividends for staking.

Interesting point...It's clear that Buffett has a great strategy; and, being comfortably in the top 1% he can afford to not change the rules this late in the game. I can imagine, growing up in a brick-and-mortar world may have made these buys seem far too risky. We have to take into consideration his huge losses with IBM may have factored in.

More and more cryptos are paying dividends for staking.

This is worth reading up on. This probably adds to why Buffett avoids crypto. While crypto continuously increases in the 'traditional' perks of trading, it is indeed, still in the pioneering, Wild-Wild-West phases of development.

Thanks for chiming in!

Thanks :-)

✌!

I think the clearest winner will be one that has main payment adoption around the world. So the ideal would be bitshares for banking, EOS for dapps.

But if the main point will be dividends like some others are suggesting in the comments, then DASH is already leading the Buffett-minded I think.

main payment adoption around the world...ideal...bitshares for banking, EOS for dapps.

I agree that the potential for both is great; but, the competition is stiff; and re: BTS the circulation is currently far exceeding the market value which may be a concern for serious investors.

Peace.
