SteemDance - Distance

When I started dancing in @sirwinchester ´s dance company 6 years ago, I absolutely hated the freestyle training. It was based on free moves to songs you maybe never heard about …. 

I was the little blonde curly hair angel around 10-20 other „Gangster“ street styler, that is what I used to call them because all the girls and boys were so „cool“ … Do you know what I mean? Just imagine little soldier with long curly white blonde hair and no experiences in freestyle dancing at all, around with girls who had a short hair cut, colored from black to blond, baggy pants, famous sneakers , dreadlocks, Chicago Bulls Caps and cool guys who I never met before in my life. I was so scared, mostly because I was so happy to join these „cool kids“ and I was shy to experiment with my body. They got the flow, incredible moves and not to forget the attitude !!!!! 

I often got thrown in into the deep end by SirWinchester. Does anyone knows the game bottle flipping? When you throw a bottle into a circle and it stops in front of someone, he/she has to do ta specific challenge? And now I was chosen to do a freestyle with 20-40 eyes watching me. I felt so bad because I knew my moves weren´t the best but I kept going. I never gave up and also trained at home, in school, in every free minute I had. I also created a personal dance studio at home and disappeared for hours sometimes just dancing around, forget the present and was to practice some new skills. 

Here 6 years later, I can proudly call myself a teacher in freestyle and also in choreography. I overtook the people I was scared about in the past years because I kept training and they gave up or hadn't had enough time. ( Which I cant understand because I live in another city and still got to manage to be at every single dance class since 6 years! ) 

Anyway, freestyle is combined with attitude, creativity, spontaneity and good hearing. When a song comes on and you never heard it before, just take a few bouncers and a few minutes to get into the rhythm. Nothing is as bad as dancing off beat!!!!!!!!!! Also - Play with your eyes. Look the audience into the eyes or into their direction. Get into the right mood and feel comfortable in your skin. Never be shy because a freestyle can never be wrong! @sirwinchester taught me amazing stuff and I am glad that I am able to represent him in his classes when he gets sick or anything similar like that. 

Today was a quite empty class - we are normally more than 10-12 people in the dance class but hip hop dancers are always late so more people arrived after this video was filmed. SirWinchester put on a song and this was time to film a video for my Steemit followers! The song was groovy and had a little african/spanish style to it. I love to move to a different kind of music but this song was just too nice… I saw myself on a white beach around a few friends, drinking cocktails and hearing noises from the ocean.
