Yes! I work in solar, and it's really comparable in price for most people. In places where electricity is expensive, people actually save a lot of money by switching to solar even before the system is paid off. They just pay a monthly payment instead of an electric bill. Right now it's still mostly tied to the grid, but when people get their systems paid off, they'll be able to get batteries and be totally free.

The US government is never going to take the lead on this. People really have to step up and make it happen. Switching to renewables is an easy way to do it that definitely saves money long term and sometimes short term. People are slow to change sometimes, but we don't have time for that shit now.
