What is your car trouble?

I want to give back to Steemit community and provide some help on something that I know very well. Cars and how to fix them.

Engine.jpg

Please ask me about your car issue. Won't go into gear. Strange sounds. Don't know if you should take your car in to the shop. Just ask.

Send me the make, model, and year along with car symptoms.

Please remember to VOTE and ReSteem

Power to you. Curious. I have a 2008 Honda Civic. I replaced the battery and the alternator 8 months ago, but now the car has been starting slowly for a week or two. Today, the engine turned but wouldn't start on first try. On second try it did start. Later today it started without any issue. Seems like bad wiring or maybe a bad battery perhaps, as the alternator seems fine, and it doesn't seem to be the starter. I will look more into it in the morning, but I saw your post and thought, why not ask :-) Be well.

Thank you for asking.

My first thought is that the battery is low on power. Batteries go through a chemical reaction to produce power. This chemical reaction can be hindered by low temperature, density of acid present in the battery, condition of the battery cells, level of fluid in each cell of the battery. Batteries can be sulfated when they have been cycled too low. This creates a resistive layer on the battery cells and is caused by aging and/or draining the battery well below the point where it can start a car. The more times you drain the battery this low, the more sulfated layers are created on the battery cells. Another place that causes problems is the battery terminals. If they are corroded or loose, they can create resistance to power flow. Make sure they are clean of corrosion. Finally, you could have a circuit in the car that is left on (lights for instance) that have drained the battery while it was parked. Wiring modifications and accessories can also cause power consumption while the car is parked.

I recommend before you get stranded by your battery to have your battery and charging system tested. Autozone and many other auto parts stores, for instance will do this for you for free. They will measure your car's charging system (alternator) while the engine is running. They will also put a load tester on the battery to simulate a starting load and will determine if the battery is bad.

Thanks for the feedback, indeed. Cheers.

Wha Could be causing my steering oil to keep poring out when on motion? Thanks.

Most likely a steering hose or connection. It doesn't get pressurized until the steering wheel is turned with the motor running. You will need to look for the leak with the engine running and someone turning the steering wheel. Be careful, it can be at high pressure and can spray.

Helpful thanks
