What is your car trouble?

I want to give back to Steemit community and provide some help on something that I know very well. Cars and how to fix them.

Please ask me about your car issue. Won't go into gear. Strange sounds. Don't know if you should take your car in to the shop. Just ask.

Send me the make, model, and year along with car symptoms.

On a Peugeot 206, What is the appropriate time to do general service and what’s to be done if water is mistakenly mixed with the coolant? Thanks in anticipation to your answer

Each vehicle type is different due to the design of the engine and transmission and will require different service (preventative maintenance) schedules. The owner's manual will have the recommended service intervals and the fluid types.

If the coolant was completely replaced with water, it would not harm the motor. It would however run a risk of boiling when really hot. It will also freeze in the winter which will expand and break the engine. Short term usage of water instead of antifreeze will not damage the engine. In fact some racetracks prohibit the use of antifreeze because it is slippery. If it leaks onto a track, it can create a slippery spot in the track and cause an accident. Racers often times must run water instead of antifreeze. In your case if you just added a little water to top off the coolant system, that is no big deal. The coolant is made up of a antifreeze solution and water. Typically 50/50 ratio (half water and half antifreeze). This ratio doesn't need to be perfect. You can run a 30/70 ratio or a 70/30 ratio and be just fine. If you live in an extremely cold environment where the temperature gets WAY below freezing, you will need more antifreeze to water ratio.

For long term usage, it can be harmful to run 100% water instead of antifreeze because antifreeze has anti-corrosion chemicals. Pure water will allow the inside of the motor to corrode. Those anti-corrosion additives break down over time and usage and should be replaced around 30,000 miles.

Wow ... this is so broken down and no explanation could be better. You’re awesome my friend. This has got me additional knowledge. Merci boucoup mon ami {thanks a lot my friend in French}
