I had the most interesting discussion with someone today who is half Asian. She mentioned that her mom is Asian and when she received a 98% in a grade, the mom always let her know that she could do better.

I also have an Asian neighbor who proudly talks to me about her children who became a doctor and lawyer. She rarely speaks about the third child who went to community college.

Last year, when children started to receive standard grading, I noticed that my son had set a high goal of achieving straight A's all through middle school. It is a wonderful goal. I let him know that his best is always enough and that I do not love A's, B's, or C's. He asked me what I meant and I told him that I love you which was greeted by a sweet smile.

I believe that children are learning and growing in so many ways and that they truly learn the most by emulating the people closest to them. Unconditional love is the most important way to connect with your child and establish a strong lifelong bond.

Reminds me of the show Fresh off the Boat😜

That is an excellent point. Each child has their own unique personality with different life goals, yet they are truly loved and accepted by both parents!

That's nice and cool :-)
