Life Lessons We Can Learn From Aquaman Movie

I had been putting off watching this movie for the longest time as you might already know that I am more of a Marvel fan and think that DC has basically ruined their superhero franchise.

I mean just take a look at how well Marvel has done with its 20+ MCU movies, especially the Avengers ones and contrast that to the performance of DC movies. I know, it's staggering.

But DC is not all that bad. The 'Wonder Woman' movie released in 2017 was, in my opinion, really amazing and now after watching Aquaman, I think it's the best DC movie I have seen. In fact, I liked it more than some of the Marvel movies even.

Anyways, as I always do, I like to write about the lessons I learned after watching a movie and today, I am going to be doing the same. Here are some life lessons that we can all take away from Aquaman.

Being Different Is Okay!

Aquaman (Arthur) is born with the ability to communicate with marine lifeforms and in one particular scene, he is shown talking with the marine animals in an aquarium. Seeing this, some bullies try to beat him up, until the marine animals gather behind him in an epic scene.

This awes everyone present there as Arthur's eyes turn gold. This really portrays that being different is not only okay, but is very cool. The society that we live in favours the familiar and that is a sad state of affairs, but it is exactly the reason why we should flaunt our unique abilities to realise our full potential.

Never Forget Your Roots

Arthur lives his whole life on the 'surface' and basically doesn't consider himself to be a part of Antlantis (the city beneath the ocean). Mostly, that's because he learned as he was growing up that his mother was executed for having him, a half-breed.

On being approached for help to deal with his half-brother, he keeps on saying that he is not worthy to be the king as he considers himself belonging more to the surface world. But as we see later on, he was the true heir afterall.

We should never forget our roots in life no matter where life has taken us and how different we've become. If nothing else, it is a healthy reminder of what/who you were and the journey you've undertaken.

Sometimes You Just Have To Prove Yourself

Arthur (Aquaman) is obviously the hero of the movie and so it was deemed that he was going to be victorious at the end. But the movie did a great job of portraying how he needed to set off on a journey to prove himself worthy first.

He travelled to the Sahara desert and then to Italy and then to a hidden undersea world fighting all odds and foes at every corner to find the legendary trident that would give him the command of the seas. It was difficult but he proved himself.

Life tests us at every corner too and sometimes, even though we (and everyone else) know we are worthy of something, we just have to prove ourselves first. This is probably for the best as the journey of proving yourself actually makes you into a deserving person.

Being different is definitely ok, when Author can communicate with all the aqua life form, it already proven him as the material to lead the whole aqua world! A rare talent that only bestows to a few. So in a way, he must proof himself by contributing to the aqua world, bringing unity where his rare talent that makes him different comes in handy. Sometime in life, we may have some hidden talent that we think makes us different than others. Even from time, people may not accept that due to accustom to the norm. So, gotta put some effort to make things work for ourselves :) very good motivated movie.

I agree. Being different is totally okay and in fact if we can prove our worth thanks to the unique abilities, the world will realise it's worth. The movie sure was motivating :)

Yup, love how it motivates us :)
