Are You A Tortured Soul or Are You At Peace?

As living beings with emotions, we humans have the ability to experience a whole spectrum of feelings whether they are positive ones or the negatives. There is no escaping any single one, in my opinion, as life puts us in such a variety of situations that we get to experience literally all the kinds of emotions that we are capable of.

And in a way, that is good. Now you may ask how exactly experiencing bad emotions is a good thing. Well, only when we have experienced the bad side, do we know the value of the good side. If we never knew sadness, would we value happiness as much?

I don't know why, but we humans tend to value the things that we don't have or only when it is gone and the same applies for the positive emotions of peace, happiness, joy, pleasantness and so on. No one likes to venture towards the darker side of the spectrum.

But there is also no denying that we do indeed have to venture to that side, even if it is without our will. That is just the way of life. And then you have these prolonged periods where you don't even know yourself, how you feel and that feeling of confusion keeps piling which in the long term can be highly detrimental.

Are You At Peace or Turmoil?

Sometimes life can be really confusing. It can put you in a situation or a period of time, where you're not quite sure how you should be feeling. I am talking about those times when you can neither feel fully peaceful nor at turmoil.

I guess we've all been in such situations. I call it the buffer period where you can't really be peaceful because of one or the other concerns that you have and you can't really feel that sense of turmoil either because you are doing more or less OK!

Also, since life is not binary at all, there can be good and bad things happening at the same time. Say, you get a big job offer that you had dreamt your entire life, but at the same time you lose one of your best friends.

It's times like these where you just can't decide what to feel and you just... go about your life feeling sort of neutral. The feelings of one thing are constantly overshadowed by the other.

Getting Out of The Trap

Being in the middle can be sort of dangerous, if you ask me. When you are on the positive side of the emotions, you feel absolutely great, and when you are on the negative side of the emotions, you feel like crap, but still you become done with it, once you've felt the feelings.

But when you are right smack in the middle of both the worlds, you feel kind of trapped. You feel suffocated in your precarious situation and frankly, sometimes there is just no option but to wait it out.

I think one of the most important things that one can do is to really look inwards and ask yourself what you are feeling and really accept it. As a wise man once said, acceptance is the first step towards peace. Only when you admit to yourself that something is wrong and you can't continue that way, can you do something about it.

Most people just keep going without any effort at all going where life takes them and they can't really get out of the trap. Change takes effort and that makes you stronger.

You are so right. I have witnessed such anguish simply because a person would not admit to their own weakness, error in judgement and failing to take responsibility for their actions. Everyone else was to blame.

Yes, it happens. And it can be really tough to get out of it.

Changes are also bearing risks and sometime frightening, but some results are worth to take a risk, even ig you dont see a positive success or only later in your life. Risks are experiences.

That's true. However, when the change is to get out of a trap, I think it's worth trying.

Peace isn't the nonappearance of contention, it is the capacity to deal with strife by tranquil means.
