Your First Step: A Must For Success

The first step towards the accomplishment of a plan or an idea is usually the most difficult and the hardest step to be taken but when you have taken that step, you will be surprised at the ease by which other steps will be taken.

When Edmund Hillary, the man that summited mount Everest made his feat, everyone hailed his achievement but the feat actually started with him taking the first step to climb the mountain and then subsequent steps followed and that was how he summited mount Everest.

Achievements and success do not come by default, you must have to take the initial step which may be the step that will scare you the most. Obviously, the journey of a million miles will not be achieved until the very first step is taken.

Even in physics, you will agree with me that you need a bigger force to overcome inertia and set an object in motion than when the body is already moving. That is why the first step is heavily met with opposition, friction and challenges but if you can overcome the opposition to the first step, the subsequent ones will be easier.

When you are about to try something new, there may be the fear of failure or the fear of the unknown, all these are oppositions to the first step, but if you can focus on what you want to achieve, then the energy to do so will be made available to you.

You cannot make a headway without first taking a step. This is just like someone planning to travel from Enugu (South-East Nigeria) to Port Harcourt (South-South Nigeria), without taking the first step, they many never get to Port Harcourt. You do not get to your destination by making a wish or expecting teleportation, you do so by taking steps.

When the first step becomes too scary, then this is pointer that the destination will be great and bigger things are at stake. Refusing to take the risk of taking the first step is opening up yourself to more fierce risks... so make your choice.
