The Power In Your Words

No matter how bad a situation is, speaking against it would not improve it, but it would further worsen the whole situation. Any word spoken (be it positive or negative) is just like a seed, which has the propensity of germinating and growing bigger. So we should be cautious of what to say per time.

You may not have noticed this, but your words carry immense power. This is because; your words do not just come from the lips, but from an abundance of what your are thinking in your heart.

Your heart's thoughts would determine what you speak, so if your heart is crooked, it would find expression in the way you speak. The real battle begins from the heart, and not until you have guarded your thoughts aright, your words might not appear right.

Your words do have the power to define your character and attitude towards life. This is the reason you need to speak rightly and the right words - you do not have to speak because you have to say something, but only speak when you need to say something, and when you have something to say. For example, you cannot confess that your country is too hard and expect not to see hardness in life - more often than not, you would experience exactly what you have confessed.

Just like there is no idle action, but all actions carry potential consequences; there is no word that is absolutely idle or without consequences. That is why; when you want to speak; you need to think of what the outcome of your words would be. Just like this popular Naija adage has expressed it:

Think before you speak, and not after you have spoken. - Naija Adage
