I like the themes you establish here in hurt, greed and attachment and address them in a very understated, but direct manner of speaking. If this were to be overly reliant on metaphor, or other poetic devices, it would have taken away the power of the piece.

The main thing I take away here, is that attachment leads to misery, and it is of our own doing that we tread that path. No one can save us from it but ourselves. We must let go of the material, and find out what truly speaks to us.

That thing being union and communion with a significant other or guardian figure, as alluded to. I couldn't quite get a proper tell on it, after several reads through.

There's some inspired language here, as well.

'Those who resist will craft their own hells.'
