Toubkal is the highest massif in the Moroccan High Atlas and North Africa
Toubkal summit is the highest massif of the Moroccan High Atlas and North Africa with 4,167 m. Near the Sahara, 60km south of Marrakech, it is located in the province of Al Haouz, inside the national park of the same name. It enjoys an exceptional sunshine most of the year with softer temperatures, which makes hikes pleasant even in the middle of summer. Many walks are possible on foot: the rise in altitude, although high, presents no difficulty in summer. In winter, it turns into a magnificent race in ski touring. Remember that there is a refuge in Imlil (1740m) and another in Neltner (3207m) and that, if you are a good walker, the ascent of Toubkal can easily be done in one day to a panoramic view of the whole High Atlas that will make you forget the effort. A well deserved landscape.
A living region of high mountain tourism and trekking
Summer remains the best season for the ascent of Jbel Toubkal. Many people live the tourism of this mountain, muleteers, guides, gîteurs, cooks, carriers ... Since the road the last accessible village and two days walk from Toubkal is Imlil, the "Chamonix" Moroccan. It is in the valley of Asni.
