The Group of Friends

When I was in highschool, I have a group of friends. During that time, when kids have group of friends, it is imperative that you have a group name. Like a call sign or something. I have a knack of giving names to anything so I took it upon myself to give ourselves a group name. My group of friends in grade school was named LACER. That's the acronym for our names. Leah, Aris, Cherrie, Eloisa and Rome. When we fight amongst ourselves, our groupname changes. It became ACER, REAL, LACE, CARL, LERC and so on and so forth. Now that I'm looking back, it's hilarious. So I promised myself I'm not gona name our new group name in highschool from our initials.

The Untold and Forgotten Name

Back then, my brother had a girlfriend who was born and raised in a small barangay in Tondo. She was nice and suggested a name for our group. T.G.I.S. Short for Tropang Ganda, Inggit Sila. Which practically means a group of young beautiful ladies whom everyone is envious of. I was hesitant since it sounds very provocative to me.

It'll be a head turner!

I didn't want to turn heads that way. I don't know hownit happened but for the first weeks or so of our friendship, we calles ourselves TGIS. Then came our Christmas break. I took that time to think of other group names. After two weeks, the first thing I talked to my friends about was our group name. Which apparently was also the first thing they wanted to tell me about too. We are peaceful people and we didn't want to draw that kind of attention so we agreed to change our name.

The Much Better Name

They proposed the word "Angel." I was going to propose LEJEAN that time but when they mentioned the word angel, our new name came to me with fireworks on the background. ANJELE Ara, Nel, Joan, Essie, Lynn, Enick. (I still go by Lynn that time.) We all had a wow moment. Then it became official. We became ANJELEs. When we moved to 2nd year and third year, we lost some, we gained some. So now, our friendship name is AINJELE: Ara, Ichu, Nellie, Joey, Essie, Laurie, Enil.

The Extensions

Our group became popular. Why not? We had it all. In our group, we have a comedian, a witty and strong leader, a salutatorian, a computer geek, an English wiz, a singer and a math prodigy. We help each other, we love each other. We all go along so well, our friendship even grew. Literally. We had another group of friends, kinda like our branch, the Ainjellics, we also had another younger group The baby ANJELEs, we even had a counterpart the DEMONICS, who are a group of guys who were our seniors that time. They later changed their name to PACEVARS.

Who knows what could have happened to us if we sticked to the original name. It sounded more like a gang than a group of friends. I don't wanna imagine.

Naming a group seems to be a very simple task. Yet when you come to think of it, it is critical since that would be the word associated to the face of the group you are forming. There are a lot to consider.

I am trying to come up with a name for a group right now who came together because of their love for writing. Money-wise, these people aren't the richest in the world. But with their passion for writing and their heart and will to lend a helping hand to the needy, I can say no riches on earth would surpass them.

You'll hear about them soon. But for now, let me try to come up with a name.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

This is cute @romeskie! I used to be a part of a group back when I was in grade school. I was on 6th grade that time. We named our group as "SNATCH HALLS". We were using a code name instead of our real names. I don't remember what code names had been used by others but mine was Hitomi. I can't explain either why I used that code name because I forgot the reason already. It was kinda hard when your group had misunderstandings. Sometimes you'll be divided into two. Some days you are all together. But we never disbanded the group even if how often we fight. I don't see them now but we still contact each other from time to time. Thanks to social media :)

Haha. I thought our batch in school were the only ones giving our groups their names. I miss those days. We are still friends until now. From being teenage friends, we became Titas of Manila, we became bridesmaids of each others' weddings and ninangs of each others' kids. We bring our kids everytime we meet up. Our family has gotten a lot bigger. Literally and figuratively. Lol.

That's awesome!!! You sure built a strong friendship and I believe your kids will end up being friends too when they grow up ♥
