It sounds more like the results were inconclusive than that they showed UBI to not work.
The results have shown that it really does not work, first because of the fact that if a country implements UBI, poor people in other countries will go there to get that benefit. This would increase the cost of maintaining the project beyond the fact that it costs too much for the public coffers. That's why the UBI made by governments does not work.
