Bad things comes in groups (My Promo-Mentors Writing Challenge)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Hello everybody!
Today was wondering around steemit and I run into this challenge. Ohh I was very into some challenges today. The main two problems for me was that English is not my native language and I have not much writing experience. But then I thought to myself: " What the hell, this has to be a challenge not some easy walk in the park." So I am giving a shot and constructive critic is more than welcome, as we become better if we learn from past mistakes.

First Of all, I would like to introduce myself:

My name is Rihard and I am 28 years old. I come from a beautiful place called Latvia. A really nice place to live, as I have tried in different countries and I must say this is by far my favourite place to be. I have been working in a logistics for quite a few years now and I really love my work and to work in general (kinda workaholic). I have been lucky to meet my soulmate Liene. I can see that we will grow old and grumpy together :)

Together we have lived now for 7 years. And of course, we had some ups and downs but we had the ability to talk it out and find the solution to the problem. This is the first time I saw a girl with constructive thinking. In my experience most of the girls have emotional thinking, that is not bat but sometimes it is hard to discuss a problem when emotions are involved. So last few years we had the ability to overcome all obstacles in our path and make very strong between us. Tip for everybody: talk out all things you have inside between you because they will stay there, pile up and eventually it can come out from a very bad side.

And of course the third, the most awaited, member of our family, Kurt.

So now the background is formed and we can proceed to the main dish.

The experience that changed my life!

The incident

An event that changed my life happened on 13th of December 2016. And it was just an average day at work. I was working in an office, doing some paperwork, then I saw that my co-workers needed an assistant in the warehouse. I have no problem of doing some physical work so I decided to help them out. At a warehouse we use forklifts. So I took one and started to do some work and after a half an hour one of my co-workers crashed with another forklift into me. He crashed my leg with a fork. I must say it was an interesting experience I had that day :). So we called an ambulance and after all the procedures I were taken to the operation room and waked up only next morning.

Will not show photos without bandages, cause it will move my post automatically to NSFW :)
Till now I have had seven operations a lot of physiotherapies and other procedures, they have taken bones at tissue from my hand and by the experienced doctors, they have made me a new leg :)

That wasn't it. We have taken the mortgage on our new apartment and it had to be reconstructed, as we had no money left after all the payments of the mortgage, I wanted to do most of the work. And it was going fine first month as we have started the reconstruction in mid-November but there was even more work to do.

So now I have to be in the hospital, not knowing will I be able to walk again, I have 3-month-old baby and a wife without a place to live, apartment without anything finished, and no money to back all up. It was a nice situation which I had and had only two options: First is to give up and the second is to gather myself and think a way out. I must say that cryptocurrency helped me out a lot, and it gave me a chance to stop thinking about the financial part. And I understood that I have to think more positive about any situation it helps a lot. Without it, I would not go thru all this.

This is only the first part of my experience that change the way I see the world and the second and probably the biggest change:

Stay-at-home dad experience

This changed my life for good. As I was unable to go to work and my wife needed to go to work, we decided that I will stay and nurture our kid. I must say this is probably the absolute experience I have had ever. It is a very hard job but it is probably most rewarding. This time while I was able to be with Kurt at home, I understood the value of family and what is happiness. I really hope that everybody will have a chance of having the same experience as I did.

When you are a father who is working and coming late night home and sees your kid for a few hours a day and on weekends. Kid for first few years till he learns how to talk, becomes in some kind of problem. By that I mean, You are tired at work and when you come home kid in the evening will be tired also. So you will not get the best experience with him and eventually he can become a problem and distraction as your main goal is to gain as much money you can for your family. You start to forget what is more important. You are trying to do the best you can in the role you were given by the society. But when you are a whole day, every day with a kid you start to love him so much more, as you see how he learns new traits and is just having fun with you. And look at Kurt, he is soo adorable :)

What did i learn from this experience?

This experience was the game changer for me. It has changed my whole life and I think it is in a positive way. Now I will go in a cliche world. But in reality that those are correct. The main difference is that what you hear and what you truly believe are not synonyms. And when you really accept something then and only then it changes your life.
Now I can summarise what I have learned actually:

  • Think positive. Doesn't matter in what situation you are, you have to think positive. It will help you find the solution for a problem and help you get out of stress. One rule that works very well for me: If you can change it change and if you can't why should I bother than.

  • Appreciate what you have. Sometimes we forget what we have, we are always running after something that we don't have. Stop for a second and appreciate what you have. As this is the best method to really see the value you have just in front of your eyes.

  • Happiness is not Achievement. You don't have to work to get happiness. It is not something you will get after doing any quest. Happiness doesn't come after you get 1 million dollars. The Truth is that you are happy by the moment you were born. We just tend to forget that. We are looking for something somewhere and forget that by being here in this moment is true happiness. For me, it was the biggest game changer of them all. As now I sometimes stop and really enjoy the moment that I am in and understand that I am a truly happy person.

I must say that this post could be like 10 times longer, as I have so much to tell on this topic.
I hope you would like it. And for the learning purpose, constructive criticism is more than welcome.
