How do you deal with what you do not control?

in #life8 years ago

Many people want a better life. For this we have a range of information that tells us about the healthier food, the benefits of positive thinking and activities for the body, etc. In terms of relationships, there are several warnings about how best to educate the child, not neglecting the relationship with her husband, being a friend more present, etc. At work, how to make better decisions, have a good team relationships, etc.

Daily living that amount of information that tells us what we should do for maneuver well, pass on the message that we need to commit to the full, because only then the things around us walk properly. Moreover, if we relax and trust in others something will go wrong, so you better stay alert and assume control.

If we enter this cycle, we can be 24 hours warning, striving and even then probably something will not come out the way we want.

Therein comes a thought: Does this way we are even living better? To what extent then this information and make the most of our personal effort helps us? To what extent hinders us? No wonder so many people are tired, frustrated, anxious, with low self-esteem.

I notice in the office a frequent talk that is the "have to": I have to be good professional, good student, good girl, good mother, good grandmother, a good friend, etc. In contrast: That's what I want? I can handle that? That's just me?

Control

The need for alerts and personal effort also speaks of how insecure we are to life. It is necessary to reduce the threats and control of situations gives us a sense of security, that life is in our hands.

It is true that a good part of life we control yes, we strive to achieve our goals, achieve our goals and mature, but it is also true that there is a non-controllable part. We can take care of our child's education and he did not learn. We take good care of our health and die car accident. We can invest in work and be fired by the tail of the crisis. We can take care of marriage and the other stop loving us.

And what happens when we try to control people and situations that are beyond our ability? We're frustrated and excess frustration steals our energy, our joy and our well-being. We have lost the focus of ourselves in front paralyze the decisions we take. Life stagnates.

What to do about what is uncontrollable?

We must accept that there are many situations that simply we do not control. You ask yourself, can I get this? And if the answer is no, stop and reflect, there are things that are bigger than us, we can go to a point and after that only observe. Often this time of powerlessness has something to tell us, it is important to realize that this situation causes us allow the feelings to come, focus more on ourselves, learn from it all to mature.

Accept that you can not control everything, do re-evaluate the amount of energy we put in things, we can strive more or less depending on the time when we are, but that should not steal, for a long time, our joy and energy, fundamental for indeed live a happier life.
