Nice view. The point is, homo sapiens as a specie has a peculiar behavior: it is almost the only specie where the female can RATIONALLY choose the partner. In most of species, once alpha male is defined, he can just have the females.

Plus, the fact some species go in heat makes the females much less "choosy". Homo Sapiens is very peculiar, because the female has an unprecedented rational power in the choice of the mating male.

The fact this is a power (even if sold as a "right") should not be understate: when your sons are saying that they want to keep singles, most of females are feeling a voice saying "this taking away my power: he is saying I cannot choose him, not because he's taken, just because he decided it".
