Whatever the Mind Can Conceive and Believe the Mind Can Achieve.

The late Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever your mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past.”

It’s one of the most famous inspirational quotes on what was then termed "the power of positive thinking" and now has evolved into what many call, "The Law of Attraction". Here below is a recording where he spoke those exact words and explained how he learned it. Napoleon Hill learned many things from the famous billionaire, Andrew Carnegie, who shared a lot of his wisdom with him. It has many of his insights and explains the phrase this post is titled.

Napoleon Hill (26 October 1883 – 8 November 1970) was an American author who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature.

"Every adversity has the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit."

"Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements."

"A goal is a dream with a deadline."

"Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things! And powerful things at that, when mixed with definiteness of purpose, and burning desire, can be translated into riches. Use auto-suggestion, have faith, imagination and overcome fear and time is your opposite player as in checkerboard."

"The greatest achievements of men, were at first, nothing but dreams of the minds of men who knew that dreams are the seedlings of all achievements. A burning desire, to be and to do, is the starting point, from which the dreamer must take off."

The Law of Success (1928)

The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons: Teaching, for the First Time in the History of The World, the True Philosophy Upon Which All Personal Success Is Built

"Strong, deeply rooted desire is the starting point of all achievement." Just as the electron is the last unit of matter discernible to the scientist. DESIRE is the seed of all achievement; the starting place, back of which there is nothing, or at least there is nothing of which we have any knowledge.

p. 109

Variant: "Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything." As quoted in Quote-A-Quote: To Your Success Health Wealth & Happiness (2005) by Michael E. Ruge, p. 38

Think and Grow Rich (1938)

All achievement, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea!
p.18

"Remember, no more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty."

p. 38

"Any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought."

p. 54

"We are what we are, because of the vibrations of thought which we pick up and register, through the stimuli of our daily environment."

"Resolve to throw off the influences of any unfortunate environment, and to build your own life to ORDER."

p. 54

"I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action."

p. 54

"I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects."

p. 55

Truly, thoughts are things, and their scope of operation is the world, itself.

p. 87

"Do not wait; the time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along."

p. 127

He also co-authored with W. Clement Stone, "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude" (1960).

Napoleon Hill is arguably best remembered for his famous book “Think and Grow Rich.” It was first published during the Great Depression and it’s reported that by the time of his death in 1970 had sold more than 20 million copies. It’s not only about thinking, it’s about believing. This is where so many people go astray. If you don’t believe you can achieve something, your negative thoughts will sabotage you and make sure you don’t achieve it. In fact, if you’re like the average person, chances are you won’t even try something new, if you think you won’t be successful.

In recent years the “Law of Attraction” has become a catch phrase in many households and new self help gurus have been popping up all over the place. It’s often easy to believe something with our conscious mind. We want to believe it, but unless we believe it with our unconscious mind as well, we are not really believing it. The problem is that in most cases we have no idea when our conscious mind and unconscious mind are not in tune with one another. The most obvious way of determining that they are not in tune is when we don’t get what we want.

Abraham Hicks takes it further in her modern day version of the Law of Attraction. She speaks of our each having an "emotional guidance system". Meaning, when we are feeling good and excited about our goals and dreams, we are generating the correct vibration to attract it our way. Whereas, when we are feeling frustrated, angry and/or not excited, we are headed in the wrong direction, which will pull whatever we fear our way. It's really a process about reprogramming our self to attract our target.

Love! Have you ever listened to Jim Fortin? He does a few podcasts woth James Wedmore and he’s the only person I’ve listened to him over and over and he has many of these points but he really focuses on how you can change that thinking and gives tools to do it. I’ve been working on it and it’s turned out really well. BUT it’s very easy to slip back Into old ways. Anyway he makes such good sense and so do you!

Yeah, there really are now a lot of great people who go very deep into this subject from a lot of brilliant angles. It goes far deeper and I have barely scratched the surface. I've herd of Jim Fortin and so many others. Maybe one of the readers have followed his work and others too and/or will go check him out too.

The books and films, first "What the Bleep Do We Know" and then "The Secret" did a lot over a decade ago to point the focus more deeply into the mainstream, even if they oversimplified it a bit without going as deep as they could. And of course many of them, if not all, were greatly influenced by Napoleon Hill.

"What The Bleep Do We Know - Down The Rabbit Hole" is like a classic now.

Thanks for your comment and contribution, @vgc5000 ! I really appreciate it.

Oh this is great!

I was excited but I can't watch it in the US, I'll see if I can get in on Youtube here. Down the rabbit hole sounds like it's right up my alley--

Oh, wow, @vgc5000 That's strange that they would sensor it there in the US. Maybe because it's the extended version?!?

See if this version works:

Sometimes it’s just because video is hosted in another country but I’m not having luck finding it very weird!

Not even that one works? Hmmm

Thx for that quite informative post. Keep up with creating interesting content.
