Testing my new Camera-"Skills" in the autumn forest with some Mushrooms
This day was an amazing autumn day in Franconia / Germany. Time to spend some time in the woods with my family and also time to take some camera shots. Thanks to Steemit I am back, experimenting with my camera (Casio Exilim EX-FH100) and it is a lot of fun.
So let me take you with me to the "Guttenberger Forst":
It´s a small forest near Würzburg. And now is the perfect time to go looking for champignons. With my family this is impossible ... small kids (and also my wife) do not like to much walking for hours cross country. I used to like that a lot. Now we arrive at the entry of the forest..
Today we only wanted to walk around a bit, but still we were able to spot some interesting mushrooms.
First special fungi was a so called "Hercules Giant Club" ( Clavariadelphus pistillaris ). A non edible but very rare fungi. (And we see... I am still experimenting, because the pic is really bad)
The next one we saw (my kids found it) is a coral funghi with the official name: Clavulina coralloides .
Again this mushroom is not edible, but a real beauty. This time the camera (or I) was better fit.
Finally then we found something edible... A nice stock of honey funghus ( Armillaria mellea ). Those are called "Hallimasch" in Germany. This is funny, because it sounds like "Hall - Im -Arsch" which would translate into "reverb in the ass". And altough this fungus is edible some react with a flatulence to the eating of this mushroom. We didn´t collect them, only shot a nice picture and finally we come closer to the quality of pictures, I want to provide here:

The colors are really coming out there. Looks like a fun outing.
I'm not a big fan of mushrooms from the store, and a little bit concerned about eating ones I picked in the forest. My dogs seem to know which ones to eat though and are always snacking on the ones growing in the garden.
I am fortunate, that my dad always took me with him into the woods. I guess I was 2 years old, when I found my first edible boletus.
Most of the times you can relate on your dog, which ones can be eaten and which ones not. Still I would suggest to focus on the mushrooms you really know, or on somebody who knows what he is doing.
And yeah... was a lot of fun!
Those look like beautiful woods! Mushrooms are a nice bonus, too.
Yep... combined with the amazing weather, this was a great trip.
Your kids will look back on these trips with fondness, even if they complain now. Good for you in taking them out -- often, I hop! : )
