Gratitude To Those Who Gave Their Lives/Health For The Rest Of Us [Memorial Day]
To all those around the world who have given their lives or their physical/mental health to protect their nation, deep gratitude. This sacrifice is hardly recognized and can never be sufficiently rewarded.

The price of freedom is vigilance. Whether it's walking on a street alone late at night or for a nation to exist as it chooses.
The price of violence is more violence.
Yet without the violence of the people who came before me I would not have the lives I've lived in the countries I've lived in.
For that I'm humbled and can be nothing other than grateful.
We are all animals underneath the façade. Animals are violent. Humans are inherently violent. And we will face violence until all suffering is removed.
For this reason I am grateful for meditation.
