WHEN YOUR SHIRT TURNS INTO A SKIRT – A SIMPLE CLOTHING LIFE-HACK

in #life7 years ago

Making your own skirts just got easier!

Periodically, @mama-pepper will sew clothes for our family. Often, she enjoys making skirts for our little girls. Recently she had an idea. Couldn’t she just turn some of my t-shirts into skirts?

She came up with a simple plan and then checked online. Sure enough, other people had also thought of this idea and were succeeding at turning shirts into skirts.

@mama-pepper figured that if the top of the t-shirt was removed (the part with the sleeves and neck-hole) then by sewing an elastic band around the new top would be all that it takes to transform it into a fully functioning skirt.

@mama-pepper also decided to sew a stitch pattern at the bottom of the skirt too, just to add a little more flair to it.

In the end, Red-Pepper got a new skirt, and since I had two with this pattern, I still have one shirt left that looks like that.

Has anyone else ever tried making skirts this way? If not, will you consider trying it now?

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

cool, I accidently shrunk my shirt the other day and gave it to my 10 yr old son. Now its trophy size!

That's a good use for it!

Great as always! My 7 year old is very excited to try this on her sewing machine.

Give it a go. Let us see how it works out.

Best recycling I have seen in a long time :)

Well done mama-pepper. What next? Use the arms as swaddling clothes for new-pepper? Are the cut off tops big enough for old type cloth nappies?. Poor mama all that extra sewing. But red -pepper looks good in her new dress.

Hmm.. good idea. Let us waste nothing!

You are so creative! Solid stitching job by @mama-pepper as well!

Mama is one talented woman.

Great idea @papa-pepper But I did not sew such skirts.

We had not either, until now.
